You can find the SMS's sound output at pin 15 of the 315-5246 chip (between the cartridge slot and the controller ports) and it should also be on the negative pin of the capacitor C31, which is close to the CXA 1145 chip. You can find GND on pin 24 of the CXA 1145 chip, and plenty of other places to...

Hmm, the only thing I can think of doing is trying to get audio out directly from the sega's motherboard (if the problem with the audio is happening at the "converting to RF signal" stage) I've done this hack with my SMS2s, to get composite video out and audio (saves me trying to tune in the RF sign...
