Lemme get this straight. I should hook up select to the ground on an always off or always on momentary switch to the ground? And I know the reset switch, I should use an always on momentary switch with the grount, correct? First, you need to get the terminology straight. Momentary xPST switches are...

Some Juniors have a single-chip implementation, but they're apparently rather rare. I'd like to get one or two of them!usbcd36 wrote:Buy the cheapest Atari you can find (I think even the late Juniors have Stellas…). As long as it's not a remake one, you should be able to extract any and all necessary parts.

Also, if you want to make it portable, a lot of the Vader 2600s have the extra 555 chip up in the top right corner of the motherboard controlling the reset circuit - something extra that would need to be replaced or re-connected during the mobo miniaturization process. Stick with the 4-switch woodgr...

Eh, lemon juice is great. If you are planning not to resolder anything, then it's ideal. Resoldering is not the issue, corrosion is. If you use a corrosive flux, you may be tossing that project in the garbage and having to re-make it from scratch in a few years' time. You can't resolder component l...

liquid flux is also acid.. You can buy acid and non-acid fluxes, just like you can buy solder that is rosin flux core or acid flux core. If you want your electronic projects to last, be careful if you shop in the plumbing section of the hardware store. They have a lot of acid flux products there. T...

Another word for it is binaural stereo. You don't actually have to put microphones in your ears - you can use just microphones spaced and aimed appropriately. The more accurately you simulate the effects of a real head and ears, the more realistic the recording will be. For example, put the mics on ...

What are you using for solder? Most of us use rosin flux core wire solder, which is hollow and has the flux built right in. Paste flux is usually used on copper water pipes, not electronics. If you sometimes need extra flux for some reason, get a small bottle of liquid flux. It comes with a brush at...

It's a class-action lawsuit settlement. They only want to know what software you have to determine how much money they owe you. My dad and I got something similar a couple of years ago, and when we filled out the forms, we found that based on what Microsoft software we had purchased, we were each su...
7xxx series regulators also have built-in thermal limiting circuitry. Without a heat sink, you would be lucky to get 500 mA out of it (depending on the input voltage) before it goes into shutdown. If you put a big enough heat sink on it, you can put 30 volts in and get 5 volts out at up to 1 amp (th...

If the syringe did not have a mixing tip on it, that will not work. You need to squirt out equal amounts onto something you can mix them on, like a piece of scrap plastic, then mix them by stirring with a stick for at least 30-60 seconds. (less time needed for runny, fast-setting epoxies) Even when ...

I think you need a current-limiting resistor in series with the LED. It seems to me that the one in series with the transistor base is for timing control, not current limiting (maybe it could do both, but that would depend on the transistor's gain, so not a very reliable way to do it since transisto...

It's not emulation - for the most part, the circuitry in it is the same as what's in the 2600. The only real differences are the sound circuit error that was in the first revision, and the unauthorized video "improvement" made by the Asian company that was only supposed to fabricate it as designed. ...

In that case, there's really very little chance that I could help you with it on this forum. I need to have it in my hands to figure out what's wrong with it. As I understand it, you have four options: 1. Find someone near you that you can take it to, to be fixed. 2. Send it to me for repair. This w...
