ok, thanks... the 2405 in my Sega CD gets VERY hot... can this be a problem point in my sega CD? mainly, as posted on many other forums (and no real answers as to what the solution is), it plays music CDs, but fails on Sega CD games, be it original discs or backup CD-Rs.. but if I let it "warm" up f...

the other marking on the thing is NEC Japan.. it has other numbers on it, but im not home right now, and can't read it...

what's a 2405?
im trying to repair my Sega CD, and found an odd voltage regulator..
im used to the 78 series, but what's a 2405? im guessing it's 5v, but what does it "do" differently"?

Don't solder directly on the board, use an exacto knife to pull out the pin you want. The pin's break really easy though so be carefull. If you really don't want to pull out the pin you should just try using flux or try tinning your wires before putting them on the pin. I don't want to lift the pin...

well don't forget about people like me who actually want the ram expansion... So in that case, I would say just to cut it down, or fork over decent money for a weller Iron and relocate it... oh i got my expansion pack, but im sure some people (for whatever reason they would), would rather not have ...
