Re: Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
Apparently not many people on these forums know much about the Sega CDX :P In any case, in general many of these older regulators won't be switchmode and as such won't be regulated as you might be used to with modern adaptors. With that in mind its important to measure the voltage and current draw ...

Re: Portable Nintendo 64 joystick replacement
I have a gamecube style joystick in my N64 remote. Very smooth, but kind of sensitive. You can find them online for around 10-15 dollars. Don't buy the other kind though, I heard they are poorly made. Get the one that looks like a gamecube joystick. http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/m/mX69rKSkHDFEGqy3WK...

Genesis Cartridge Label Reprint
My friend gave me a copy of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker for Sega Genesis. The insides are in very good shape but the cartridge and label are in terrible shape. I like to have all of my carts in almost mint condition, but when I went on ebay to see how much a good condition cart cost I decided to re...

Re: Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
I bought a 12v 1.5a switching power adapter, connected it to the CDX and ran some tests. I found out that the CDX in Sega CD mode only draws a max of .65 amps when seeking and stabilizes at around .4 amps. So, people that have burned up their CDX's using the Sega Model 2 Adapter, have most likely bu...

Re: Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
Been testing all of my sega power adaptors with a DMM. What I found is that they all are higher voltage than what is printed on the label. My genesis 1 mk1602 adaptor measures 12.4v rather than the 9v as per the label. All of them measure higher voltages. I was thinking of buying a 12v 1.5a power ad...

Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
Does anyone have a real Sega CDX power supply and digital multimeter? If so, can you test the actual output voltage and amps. I know the label says 9.5v 1.5a but I doubt it outputs exactly what is on the label. I have a Sega Genesis 2 power supply and on the label it says 10v 850ma but the actual vo...

Re: cleaning corroded solder pads
Anyone got any successful techniques? I've just been repairing an old game gear and a lot of the solder pads where the old capacitors were fixed to the board were pretty badly corroded and it made it very difficult to solder on the new ones. I tried cleaning them with vinegar, followed by baking so...

Re: Need Help Modding a AC/DC Power Adapter
I don't really do a lot of work with high voltage, but from what I can understand is that the transformers windings is set to output 9.5 volts AC. You can see the separation on the primary and secondary on the transformer. The primary uses the thicker insulated wire, where as the secondary uses the...

Need Help Modding a AC/DC Power Adapter
I have a non working game gear power adapter. I want to swap the components to make it compatible for my CDX. I think this can be done using the existing PCB and Transformer. I need some insight on what to do. I kind of understand how everything works but need a few suggestions and pointers from som...
