Re: NES to video out problems
Thanks MMX, I'll try a different cart and maybe a different amp. I'm running a wallwart with 12v 500mA to the 7805, any chance for a problem there?

NES to video out problems
Hi all,
I modded my board by instructions in Ben's book, but can't seem to get past a solid brown screen to load. I'm posting an image of my board.

What value is the color tint variable resistor
What value is the color tint variable resistor for the video mod? I'm actually trying to fix video out on my Odyssey 2 but it should work. I think...

VU mic circuit problems
Hi all- I'm trying to make a VU meter that reads sound levels from a electret mic but can't seem to get the circuit to work. I'm using a S1A2284A 5-dot LED IC and an electret mic. I tried the circuit suggested by the manufacturer and connected the mic up for the signal- no results, tried hooking the...

Re: Anybody do a portable Laserdisk mod?
Agreed Triton, in fact there would be in my estimation so much loss of quality in making the device a portable viewer that it isn't worth it. It would mostly be for the challenge and in order to allow the media to be shared. The mod I'm thinking would retain the output jacks to connect it to someone...

Anybody do a portable Laserdisk mod?
A friend of mine is a videophile -collects Betas, Laserdisks, videomedia, etc. I was thinking of making a portable Laserdisk player in a retro 50s bomb shelter type case (I know Laser is from the 80s but I'm going for the Fallout look.) Anybody make a portable like this before? Suggestions for a pla...

Re: Advantage to the Max
http://i51.tinypic.com/icmq36.jpg I haven't tested the circuit but it is the exact circuit from the NES Advantage. A and B connect to the appropriate pins on the 4021, I didn't include slow-mo because I never used it. I also am going to do the Max which is a much smaller/easier circuit, however I a...

Advantage to the Max
I don't know if it's been done or if there's any interest, but I'll be posting up the circuits for the Advantage and the Max controllers within about a week.

Re: The D-pad
I just like the squishy feel. I have tons of tact switches from old computer mice and from the VCR I hacked (might make a micro NES control from the board) I ended up dismantling a NES controller for parts I needed, I needed the chip anyway. I also took apart my NES Advantage and will post up the ci...

The D-pad
WHat's on the bottom of the d-pad? and how can I make one? I don't plan on using the miniature tac-switches unless I have to.

Re: RF to Composite video
What am supposed to do with the +5v line? Is that supposed to go to the outside of the connector? I'm not getting a very good signal and it sometimes just "craps" out to no signal.

Hack stuff for parts thread
So I kept this Symphonic brand VHS player for parts and today I decided to pull it apart for my Odyssey project. OMG this thing is an engineering marvel, most of the parts snap in and there are more than enough miniature pb for a portable. The coolest thing is this board with pushbuttons on it that ...
