Probably a year old or so. If its totally screwed, what useful things can I salvage from it?

Repairing Water damage?
My old laptop was recently damaged when a glass of water spilt on the keyboard. It doesn't turn on, no lights, no whirring. Its not under warranty, so its up to me to fix it. I have a suspicion that the motherboard is damaged.
What are some steps that I can take to make sure its the motherboard?

Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
Alright. I ended up using a 17V, 400mA wall charger instead, but now that I know whats what, I'll replace that. I have a lot to replace now though, I hooked it up to a fan, made my plastic-mesh stand, and started soldering in a DP-DT switch. I had a great idea of turning the fans on while I was sold...

Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
Fan Voltage controller? Where would I accquire one of these? My PS2 dropped, and the disk motor broke inside. I don't have time to go buy another just so I can fix it, then take it apart to make a portable :| . Alright, thanks, I'll get right on it then. Also, what type of materials should I be usin...

Re: If the shoe don't fit, what do I do?
Thanks for looking that up for me, but I'm not after a replacement battery. I'm asking if I can somehow connect the two connectors with clamps or something.

Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
Thanks for your prompt reply! I think the adapter should be able to push out enough power to keep the fans running at fullspeed. We don't have a Radio Shack here in New Zealand, so I was thinking of cutting the end off an old PS2 power cable/adapter, or a laptop charger.
That'll work right?

Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
Im using a couple fans to make a laptop cooler, not this . I'll end up making a full stand and mount the fans on rather than making little wire 'U's haha.
How would I get my fans to run off a power-brick/adapter? Is it as simple as cutting the end off, and soldering some wires?

My 'new' laptop is a Campaq Presario V6000 and my old Laptop is some sort of ASUS type. I don't remember the model, and can't turn it on to check. The rating on the battery is +11.1V, 4400mAh, 48Wh.

If the shoe don't fit, what do I do?
Hey guys. I recently acquired a laptop from a friend of mine, but the battery is missing. It runs fine when its connected to the charger, but this takes away from the concept of having a laptop;mobility. I have a broken laptop(water-damage), with a working battery but unfortunately its the wrong siz...

Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
I made one of these today! What a coincidence haha. You should probably solder those wires, instead of just twisting them, but other than that gamax92 is spot-on. In fact, I'll be using his(or her) steps to make a stand! :D @gamax92: Where would one find sturdy wire like this? I have a crazy...
