Re: Wireless N64 controller?
@ micro: No way, this is amazing! Our thread was only for N64, and you went ahead and did all of them. Very impressive. I know you are not planning on cleaning up and releasing the source code - but now that you've solved it, would you do me a favour and please answer a question that was bugging me...

Re: Wireless N64 controller?
Yeah good point marshallh, the reason why it's likely NOT possible even if you have a transparent link (ie data in transmitter's pin = data out the receiver's pin) is twofold: 1) The N64 & Controller talk back and forth at 250 kbits/s and the transceivers can't switch between send/receive mode fast ...

Re: Wireless N64 controller?
Hey Mario - a) I think I've solved the TX/RX switching and clock speeds with the setup I'm planning (see above pic of my plan). I finallly got the transceivers in the mail so I'll let you know how it goes. b) Thanks for the links - I'm fairly sure the third one's going to be the most useful, as maki...

Re: Wireless N64 controller?
That's pretty much what I always assumed would have to be done. You would likely combine the two chips on each side into one. As for the code, I just finished my HSC and got a simple JDM programmer working for PICs so I can work on the 1a and 2a parts soon. Cool, glad to hear I'm not the only one t...

Re: Wireless N64 controller?
Hey, I've been giving this problem a lot of thought over the last few weeks, and I think I've got a workable solution, let me know what you all think: http://i684.photobucket.com/albums/vv207/frontispiece/RFN64Remote.jpg 1A: A "fake Controller chip" - much like evilteddy's chip - which continually r...

Re: how many AMPS does the n64 require
What I'd do is to use a PIC/AVR that has the entire n64 protocol on it wired to the controller port, then just have it constantly receiving data from the wireless controller (which is transmitting all the time). This makes more sense than trying to handle the bidir. one-wire communications Yeah, th...

Re: how many AMPS does the n64 require
The controllers share the 3.3v rail with the rest of the n64. I can't recall if there are inline fuses on the 3.3v controller supplies. In any case you should be fine with 500mA Thanks, that's perfect! Hmm, now just to figure out how I can possibly send signals that are coming in at 4us/bit from th...

Re: how many AMPS does the n64 require
On a similar note, does anyone know how many amps you can draw from the N64's controller power line (3V)? I'm wondering if I could use a DC-DC stepup and get ~10V from the 3V line to power a RF transmitter, and also power an ATMega microcontroller, all from the 3V line.

Re: Wireless N64 controller?
Hey, did anyone ever end up getting a transparent-link N64 controller working? Especially an RF one - I'm trying to figure it out now myself, and can't wrap my head around it very easily (pretty new to electronics) - any advice for someone starting out and trying to get a wireless controller up and ...
