Re: Xbox 360 Laptop Cooling

For anyone who runs into this type of problem, after trimming the newer heatsink down to 70mm square, I ran the unit for an hour with no difficulty with the fan on. I'm getting a new, smaller fan with close to the same CFM. With a case I'm going to have to work out some air flow but my project is al...

Xbox 360 Laptop Cooling

What has been your best experience in keeping an xbox 360 laptop cool with space in mind. I have very little room in my build and would not like to increase the thickness of my project. I had used a stock heatsink http://www.mcccomputers.com/shop/5121-13252-large/xbox360-xbox-360-console-chipset-hea...

Parallel versus serial fans

I'm working on a project and had a question about serial and parallel connections and their effect on electric current and power. If I connect two 12v fans in parallel, will they both draw about 6v each? Our am I thinking about it wrong?

Re: Hacking the Gateway 1775w

Great Guide! Could you go into a little more detail on the part of the driver board where the power board used to plug in? Do I need to have 12v for both of the 12v pins or just one? Do all of the ground pins need to be grounded? Thanks for your time in making this guide. Also, I've been using 12v a...

Run a screen from motherboard

How crazy is this? I have a screen that runs off of two +5v and if I buy a universal inverter, I could run that off of +12v. I have the driver board for the screen and am curious if this is workable. Can I power this off of the XDK and southbridge header (J1D2 and J2D1 respectively)? Or am I nuts? I...

Re: ROL and Power Cycling

Same thing with another RoL. I can get it to power up if I let the unit sit for a long time, but today, I got one red ring but the unit powered up just fine. I couldn't get an error code as it was stuck that way even if I turned the machine off. I appreciate all the help humakabula1!

Re: ROL and Power Cycling

I have checked all connections, I have accidentally bridged two connections however. According to my google seach pin 4 and 8 are both ground pins and shouldn't matter if bridged. I have seen the LEDs work with this bridge and without removing anything so I'm thinking it's some sort of weird voltage...

Re: ROL and Power Cycling

Thanks for your reply Humakabula! I haven't added anything to the console, just relocated it. Odd thing happened when I tried it this morning. When I plugged the unit it, I got one blinking green light on the ROL with stayed as the unit powered on. I then turned it off and turned it on with the ejec...

Re: ROL and Power Cycling

Ok, so I have resoldered all connections and it worked!...for about ten minutes. I turned it on and off about five times to ensure the connection was good, and then hot glued the leads in place, then turned the unit on and off four more times, working wonderfully! When I plugged in the fans, however...

ROL and Power Cycling

Greetings! I'm having a ROL problem that I hope you all can help me with. I have removed the ROL port from the motherboard and got everything working correctly. When I went downstairs to grab a controller, it went into a power cycle and the LEDs won't work on the ROL board. Now when I plug it in, it...

Re: Ring of Light Problems

Yes Huma, I'm not trying to change to RoL board at all. I took the port off the board and extended it. I'll post pictures shortly. I think I ruined the board as there is some solder melted to the board that I can't get off bridging two ground holes. I can still get the unit to power on, just the LED...

Re: Ring of Light Problems

I don't visually see any shorts. I've taken all the wires off, cleaned and resoldered, but still same thing. I've tried with another RoL and get the same result. Is there a way to test the little ports themselves? Am I missing something? I am every other port already taken off the board. Thanks for ...

Ring of Light Problems

I have just detached the ring of light port from the motherboard, and when I rewire it up, none of the LEDs light up. Has anyone else had this problem or am I stuck troubleshooting this on my own? Any insight would be helpful!
