Re: Well, I'm pretty much a nerd, and....
I need help. I've been always intrigued by modded portables, though I don't really find myself to actually make one. However, recently, I've decided it'd be a good project to brush up on my soldering skills, and learn a lot about hardware (who knows? Maybe it'll evolve into a hobby and I'll be buil...

Yep, I think they are some copper spots near the buttons that you can solder to.

Re: Question on Game Gear modding
Since in the pinout it says, 'Player 2 joypad for Game Gear in SMS Mode', so I'm thinking its going to work as player 2 with a SMS game. The only problem I see with your idea is video output from the GG unless you are going to built the screen into the Genesis. I think I've found a way how to...

Re: Question on Game Gear modding
Adding a "game pad port" is really easy. All you need is DE-9 (DB-9) port and solder it to the GG Ext port.

Cap Question
I accidentally broke a cap off of the nes motherboard. It was a 22uf 50v and I found a 22uf 100v cap. Would that work or would I have to get another cap?

Re: Nes Portable Started
First, you need to desolder the RF box if havent done so. Then you have to make a video amp from here to get a decent video output. After that, you just need to wire the jack to the amp and you're done.

Re: The super awesome HTPC in a NES project
Wow, this is going to be one awesome Nes HTPC. I think you should use Bluetooth keyboards to control it. The one I'd recommend is the Logitech diNovo because it was meant for htpcs. Unfortunately, it going to cost around $100-$130. I saw other kinds of keyboards, some had built-in touchpad, etc so s...

Re: nes motherboard measurements
It is roughly around 8"x5" when I measured it.
The 72pin slot that comes with the Nes (with the tabs) is about 5.5"x1".

Re: Making a hand made case
Polycase.com is your best bet by the way you described it.
With their cases, you can either cut all the holes yourself or frankencase it. I recommend getting a ZN-40 or ZN-45 if it is your first time.
