Final "X-Top" Xbox 360 Laptop
Hey all, This unfortunately is my last contribution to the modding community for the foreseeable future, these things take an incredible amount of time and I'm trying to graduate this year. The second half of the video is me opening it up and talking through/pointing out most all of the internal wor...

"X-Top S" 360 Laptop Complete
What a surprise, another commissioned X-Top! Anyway, the new stuff this time is an internal power brick, the Slim 360 incorporated, HDMI out and a huge reduction in noise (only two small fans added for the PS). The beast weighs in at 12.5 lbs., making it almost exactly as heavy as our last model eve...

The mobo itself is 8.5" square, the DVD drive remains identical in all dimensions to previous versions.

Re: Xbox Pinout Help
The numbers on the diagram give above correspond directly to the numbered pins on the board. It's really not hard at all.

X-Top Mark II - Finished!
Here we go again! In early April Rug and I were reactivated via commission to build a second X-Top. The whole build process went much smoother as a whole, though we did still run into our fair share of small snags along the way. Special thanks to collinE for his help with the troubleshooting of the ...

I wholeheartedly approve of you and all of your endeavors just from the sight of the mountain of Oreos visible through the desktop case.
Do work.
Do work.

...but that's not internal? The antenna is clearly sticking out the back of the case.bassmasta wrote:http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/18/how- ... op-part-1/
He uses like 1 1/2inches thick, I believe.

Internal Wifi Antenna (360)
Anyone know how Ben accomplishes this feat? Rug and I think it would be a really cool addition to the laptop we're working on but can't seem to figure out the details. Also, why not just sit the original antennas just inside the case wall? Would 1/4" of komatex really destroy the signal quality? Tha...

360 Laptop Work-Blog (Take 2)
Rug and I have been commissioned to build another Xbox 360 Laptop so I thought I'd let those interested know that once again our progress can be followed on my blog at http://www.360laptop.blogspot.com Now that we know what we're doing we predict that this project will move along several times quick...

Re: what guage wire on lcd
The gauge for those wires isn't too important, anything thicker than a human hair should be plenty. That said, I think we used 26 gauge.

Re: Planning Xbox 360 Laptop, have some questions.
thetwoj1014: I actually had questions for you specifically. So you put the LCD power board in the bottom part of the laptop, would it have made it any taller if you had put it where you left the LCD driver and maybe just made the surround a bit bigger? I don't think it would have made it any taller...

Re: Methods that get you banned from xbox live.
The case theory is bogus, our X-Top has been on live for over 3 months without incident. It's all about the firmware throughout the system. Leave that all stock and you've got nothing to worry about. As long as you don't send the president threatening Live voice messages or anything.

Re: portable 360 power problems
Is there any possibility that you may have extended the backlight wires incorrectly? For instance white to pink instead of white to white?

Re: Planning Xbox 360 Laptop, have some questions.
I do not believe you would be able to get rid of the power board for the LCD. Though I admittedly know less than I should about that sort of thing, I just don't see it panning out correctly. Even if you could, a powerful enough PC supply is going to be bigger, weigh more, likely have a fan (added no...

Re: portable 360 power problems
Is the image on the screen visible if you use a flashlight? Are the extended backlight wires coming into contact with each other? The back of the monitor casing?
