I would also like to put in a plug for Google Sketchup. It's easy to learn, free, and (as per OP's requirements) there are lots of pre-made components in the 3D Warehouse you can use in your designs. Searching, downloading, and sharing is all integrated into the program. Check out these collections ...

0.08 cm seems so thin! Is this thick enough for structural stability for an entire case, or do you usually have an internal frame that holds the components?
