these are the types of old games that run fine on my old dell D810(it has ATI X300 or X600 graphics and a 1.73 Centrino CPU), just looking for more speed in every day tasks, and a decent G-card.

I have only had one problem with compatibility, but that was more of a x86-x64 issue i had with java run time.Axaj wrote:I got the RC, but I switched to XP. It really was not compatible with enough programs.

Price (Under $500) and Speed, I've looked for some other graphics but all i can find is a older Dell D820 with a Nvidia Quadro GPU, but that is a drafting GPU and not very good for games. You can get a pimped HP Mini 311 for under $500. I'm sure the Atom N280 (1.66 Ghz) and the ION chip can handle ...

I got no problems yet, I've had it for a month, light years ahead of vista, makes XP look like DOS.

The Laptops are the Acer Aspire AS1410-8414, $450 (Core 2 solo), & the Gateway EC1436u, $400 (Celeron) I'm not concerned about the HDD size.

Stock both have 2gb :) of ram but i will probably upgrade to 4gb :D . yea the boot order is right, when windows finishes loading it gives me the blue screen of death and Linux freezes when it tries to load

bios flashed, didn't help, any other ideas

ok, i did that and got the disk to format, but now i can't get XP, Vista, or Linux to install, or even run live CD i think i am going to flash bios and see if that helps
