Re: joystick to nub?
In messing with a psp nub, I noticed that the resistance isn't the same going in both directions of X and Y. It's got some weird thing going on, but I don't remember details right now. I just remember that it doesn't fall at half the voltage when the nub is centered like a regular stick would. I'm p...

Re: what's the dumbest thing a non-hacker has said to you?
It was more that she was listening for the key phrase "A Woman" and ignored all those answers that meant that. Also she was the stupid blonde that has ruined being blond for all people. edit: well more accurately, made blond people less attractive to me. Tell that girl that I said she's a dumb@$$. ...

Re: I had a wreck today
Crazy, man! Almost looks like someone bat b*#ch slapped the front of the truck! Glad to hear you're all ok. Didn't you see the giant puddle of what is presumably every fluid a vehicle could possibly have? :P Oh, I thought that was headlight fluid. It's OBVIOUSLY blinker fluid. Technically, co...

Re: Cleaning up harddrive, need duplicate file sorter.
I have several duplicates of the same thing, namely music, from silly things like backing up SD cards and all that. I want to get rid of all those duplicates and just have one copy of each file in, basically, a large archive. Sounds exactly like the same problem I had. One day I decided I was...

Re: SNK Neo 50
"Apparently this chassis doesn't use STK's, its using discrete Transistors for the convergence amps." That's interesting, I've never fixed an RPTV that had the amps built out of discrete transistors. I hate the fact that when an amp goes bad you have to replace both.... I'm actually going to be rep...

Re: SNK Neo 50
Is that monitor really just using discrete components for the convergence amps? Or are there STK's elsewhere in there?

Mo' pitchurs! I cut out the rectangle for the LCD so that the LCD fits inside of it and it's flush with the front surface, but it's gonna have a bezel around it to keep it looking neat. Making the LCD fit inside will save some space on the inside of the case for the rest of the electronics. The beze...

Re: t64 Resurrection
That's good info, Snow Cat, unfortunately I usually cut up the transparencies so that I can position them better and because sometimes I print more than one design per sheet. I guess if I did one design and not cut them up I could try that out. I also have a practically brand new laser printer aside...

Re: t64 Resurrection
So..... my experiment with Vellum paper didn't work out so well.... I guess the whole issue with crappy laser prints is possibly the toner cartridge has a crappy drum and I noticed some slight issues with the fuser. Unfortunately my printer doesn't have density adjustments... Oh well, I guess I'll h...

Re: Memorex Dual Format DVD Recorder Power Supply Pinout
The plug looks just like a S-Video jack. You could probably just hack an S-Video cable and use it for that, unless you can get a bare connector and add your own wiring to it. It's very likely that it uses 12V and maybe also 5V, unless it has a step-down built in. The easiest way to figure it out wou...

Re: Postal Service Annoyances!
Sometimes, no matter how annoying postal services can be, the way a seller packages something just gets on my nerves. Who sends a bare, 10" LCD through the postal service packaged in nothing but a bubble mailer? One of my friends thought it would be cool to buy me an LCD that someone was selling so ...

Re: Anyone here skateboard?
I remember when I was about 15/16 or so wanting to get into skating as one of my cousins was pretty good at it. I was starting to get ok at it when one day the board shot out from under me and I landed backwards on my wrists. I think I sprained my wrists and they got severely swollen and I couldn't ...
