The 3000gt was sold in australia as the GTO. A friend bought a GTO VR4 in very good condition for AUS$25,000. Base/SL expect to dump a couple thousand in maintenance right off, and continually over time. VR4 hope you have a bottomless wallet. Automatics fail predictably over time and expect to blow...

As always, the rumors will turn out to be very wrong. Personally, I gave up caring about platforms as long as I get to play the latest Mario/Smash/Donkey Kong in a reasonably controllable fashion. :)
