Won't ever work in a million years. The N64 has 4 kilobytes of texture memory, this is a hardware limitation. No way to get around it.

I'm pretty sure that they're either NiCd or NiMH which means you could use one of those 6v chargers for an RC car. If someone could confirm this that'd be nice.

Stepping up from 7.4v to 12v uses power, so to answer your question, no you don't lose mah, but you increase your power consumption which will decrease your battery life.

For some reason I don't think that those are AA batteries (although it still is possible)... I'm pretty sure that they are lipos or something similar. If there's writing on the cells, that might help. If you can see if they are wired in parallel, or series, or if you can't tell take some more pictur...
