Re: Internal Memory + VGA questions
Well, that'd be quite nice. I'd definitely consider turning it into a portable if I could make it "drive-less". I'm re-considering using the CD changer, as when I opened it up, I wasn't entirely sure how I could wire it together :P I'm sure I could figure it out without too much fuss, but since my w...

The fans say that they run on 12v though, so I was under the impression that I could just solder the positive and negative leads of the screen into the fan power supply. I asked my friend who works with computers and he told me that regularly, yes, computer fans would be 5v and then step up to 12v,...

Re: Internal Memory + VGA questions
Thanx for the link and tidbit of info; what's more interesting, is from the "some english" that's on the page, it seems you can actually rip a GD-ROM to a SD card, which would've come in handy years ago (or still if you could get it to read the games from the SD card). An idea just struck my brain t...

Re: 10.2 screen w/ Xbox 360? Nah... ahm makin a laptop!
I know that I could do these for sure: 1) Tie the screen into the 360's fan power IIRC, the 360's fan header starts at 5v, then steps up to 12v, so powering the screen from that would give it irregular voltage, wouldn't it? By the way, awesome Hackintosh! Thanx. I'll be sure to post more pics when ...

Re: Question about ring of light and xbox psu
Amazing; I've found another! Sorry, but I've been working on a "mini-ITX inside a 360" project for a while, so I had the same question. The best I can find, so far, is that you can hook up the power & ground from the main pins of the module and you'll be able to use the power switch. You must cut tr...

Re: 10.2 screen w/ Xbox 360?
Wow, that's lots of tape. If soldering and such aren't a "skill" you've developed yet, then you'll probably just want to try to find a way to mount the screen and be done with it. You could also dremel a window into the top of the case that's about the size of the screen and mount it to that, but it...

Re: Xbox 360 portable
While the laptop may be too daunting for some, surely it's not the most complicated thing we've seen on this site. I think the hardest part about making it a "laptop" is the case fabrication and cooling. I'm not attempting to sound obtuse or anything; I just really think people overexaggerate the c...

X-Hack 360 ; Mini-ITX in a 360 case.
Figure'd I'd post one of my projects here, as it does use parts from a 360, and is 360-themed. What's Inside 1. Intel D945GCLF2 mini-ITX board (Atom 330, i945/ich7/gma950) 2. 160GB WD Scorpio 2.5" hard drive (16MB/7200RPM/3.0Gbps) 3. 2GB DDR2/667 (Rendition) 4. 210W ATX Power Supply (apparently, it ...

Re: Laptop LCDs as screens almost impossible, still never done?
I tried getting a few different screens to work for an xbox 360 a while back (as the 360 can output several different signal types, it was an ideal device to try some screens with, imo). I had a couple of portable dvd players I hacked apart, both of which came with a control board which interfaces b...

Internal Memory + VGA questions
I've come across a couple things about using a SD card as a memory card for the DC, but can't seem to find a clear way to go about building one. I'm also still assuming that nobody's gotten a hdd to work at a decent speed and/or flash drives. Is it possible to load any games off the SD card, or is i...
