Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
I would suggest testing them by making a circuit that has a little juice running through it, rather than using a multimeter. Mine worked when I tried that.

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
Here's something odd: I still can't get my multimeter to tell me the circuit is complete, but when I made a simple circuit with an LED, batteries, and one of these switches, it works. The only thing I can figure is that the black material is somehow only conductive when some voltage is applied. Life...

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
That's what I was afraid of. I would definitely recommend that everyone stay away from that ebay seller from the earlier link.
I guess I'll have to spend more to get some from an electronics site.
I have contacted the seller, but they haven't responded yet.

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
That may be what I mean. It looks like the material used for computer keyboards, where there is a bit of black material attached to the rubber that I assume is supposed to be conductive. It may be metal, though I always thought something was added to the rubber to make is conductive. I could easily ...

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
Yeah, I tried that. Each side is a single contact as with the clicky tacts I have. I know this is a crude illustration, but it looks kind of like: } { The rubber should make contact between those leads when the switch is depressed. They are designed exactly as I expected, but for some reason the con...

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
Just to let everyone know, I bought some of the switches from that ebay link. Unless I'm mistaken, I can't get a single one to work. When I put my multimeter leads on opposite corners, then depress the switch, I'm not getting a completed circuit. I even took one of the switches apart, and they seem ...

Re: are those nes/snes/genesis combo systems any good?
I also have one of those, though it is black instead of silver as the one in that thread. It works pretty well, though the controllers feel a bit cheap. It is also annoying that the A and B buttons are flipped from their original orientation. Not really an issue for modding, I know, but I figured I'...

Re: How To Remove Nintendo Screws- a Tutorial
On the Mini SNES, I just used a 1/2 inch drill bit and bored out the posts right down to the screw head. Once the plastic was completely bored out, the two halves came apart as if the screws weren't even there. I didn't have to drill into the screws at all. It obviously makes it so that you wouldn't...

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
Thanks for the link. I'll definitely be getting those. That's a very good price for 50 of them. I'm just glad I read this thread before I used the regular tacts I have.

Re: Tact Switches or Original Buttons?
Can anyone say from experience if these buttons feel more like the actual controllers? I'm not opposed to using the "clicky" tact switches, but if these feel more like I am used to, I'll probably get some. (Of course, I'll have to find another 20 dollars or so of parts to get from Digikey. I might a...
