I'm making this SJIII/NESp for a friend who's moving; It's a really simple little portable. No cart slot, seeing as she had to give all her games to me before she left b/c they couldn't take them, so it'll just play the built-in ROMs. Gimme a few hours, I'll probably be done. In the meantime, here's my progress so far:
The whole shebang
Yay! Mario ROM!!!
Sorry for the lack of Contra pics, I'm just too damn lazy!
REAL mature, guys . J/K Anyways, it's all done.......mostly. The video and audio worked as an exposed circuit, but when I put it in the case, it stopped working. It's not the connections; I'm almost 100% sure it's the ribbon cable going to the Hip Gear screen, because it only works if it's all the way flat. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
well, if the cable only works when its flat... but just in case you cannot really flatten it out anymore, you could try wiring up some of your own wires in place of the ribbon cable. I have had to do that with other things before. It's a pain, but sometimes its the only thing you can do. If its one of those cheap printed plastic ribbon cables you may have to remove the header (or whatever) thats holds the end of the cable to get at the solder points. Or you could get out the razor blade (or dremel) and make your own solder contacts directly on the PCB if that won't work. I have had to do that too.
Emulation isn't accurate. There is no substitute for real hardware!
