Well I've had all the pieces for over a month now, finally began work today. I went over to my grandpa's house and he helped me cut the pieces. He even made this awesome former out of wood that I used to bend the metal strip. Anyways, here it is: (plexi is actually clear, blue stuff is protective layer)

There is is, in all its glory. The front plate isn't epoxied to the metal yet, but it will be tomorrow. Also, I need to file down the screen and speaker holes. More pics and updates soon!

Haha, finally got your older old man to cut it?

It looks good, you may want to sand down those brutal speaker holes though.

Well, I epoxied the plate to the wall and filed down those speaker holes. Then I drilled all the holes for the buttons and joysticks. Unfortunately, the epoxy left an ugly residue behind that was very sticky. I think I'll sand the extra epoxy down, because it doesnt really stick that well and looks horrible. :( But anyways, here are some pics:

That's it for now. Next weekend I'll install the components.

if you can't get rid of the residue, you could always spray paint it. it wouldn't be clear anymore but it's better than ugly residue

I could spray paint it, but because the walls are bent poorly and don't line up with the faceplate, the screen won't line up because it's board won't go down that far... it's hard to explain, but if I leave it clear, you can't really tell and I can always file the top of the screen hole to match the bottom. Annnyyyways, I think I did need to mix the epoxy up more, and apply it with a toothpick or something. Well, now to google to find things that remove epoxy.

Okay, good, 50% alcohol removed all of the epoxy! YES! This time, instead of running the plunger along the wall, I mixed up a little and slowly applied it with a toothpick. Should work well.

Since it came with protective plastic, it'd suffice to say he bought it from a hardware store or something.

Yeah its plexiglass, or acrylic, whatever you wanna call it. When you cut it with a router, the annoying shavings get everywhere. If you ever try using it, GET LEXAN. Lexan is much harder to snap or break or crack, which regular plexi does easily.

Another update! Ignore the blatant double-postity! I removed all the epoxy crapola from the back of the plate, and reglued it, leaving it stronger and much better looking. Still a little messy, but what the hell. Here are two pics:
