for the a shared dvd drive, you might (this is a guess) be able to share the same dvd laser spindle device and connect it to the separate DVD drive mobos for the XBOX and PS2. i would just use 2 different drives though

for a battery, get a high capacity battery or run 2 series of 8 D size batteries in parrallel

Xbox dvd is ide/atapi, so it's standard.
ps2 has integrated dvd controller so there is no pinout for it
USB is a standard connector and has a standard pinout
Xbox psu uses a custom adaptation of an atx contector that differs depending on what model you use.

the ps2 tend to be picky about witch lazer is likes and both devises have to be able to send the correct calls to the drive

the only way to do it realy is to bulid a devise witch would take the ps2s calls and convert them to the calls a ide dvd drive uses wile doing the same from ide drive to ps2 witch would involve (among outher things) the use of a FPGA and a great deal of programing skill and engineering knowhow

refer to the "how to post images" thread in Forum 42, but instead of putting the url in between "[img]" tags, paste it into the "link from off-site url" box in the profile editor.
