yeh the ps2 controller os okay, but its tooo small, the triggers are hard to get to, and the analog sticks are in the wrong place.

the gamecube controller, too small, buttons are strange, and the triggers just suck.

the xbox controller s is okay, but my fingers get pinched in the triggers and its overall a little too small.

then theres the "fat bastard" xbox controller, best designed controller ever. perfect size, perfect proportions and the 4 buttons are the perfect shape and layout.

No matter anyone says, Xbox is so much better, i played lots of them and im also getting one in June, it might be a little big and less popular, but besides that, it has better graphics, 8-10GB hard-drive, i like the controller and controls more, plays bigger games that PS2 couldnt handle, you can save MP3s in it, it comes with 4 controller ports without getting an adaptor like the PS2, i only see one thing wrong with it that PS2 has, you have to buy something to watch DVDs on it, i will probably get the Xbox 360 when it comes, i think Xbox is better...

I like the GC controllers. They're egronomic, fun to play and look at (let's face it, they're astheticly pleasing)...all in all...I like 'em! But we all have preferences and that's ok!

Also the PS controllers are called the "Dual Shock". Get it right, man! Geez  ...

yeah its the same thing that happened to ms earlier in the year. some company actually has forcefeedback patented. ms settled out of court but sony went ahead and lost. the ruling was stayed though and i dont know whats going on but long story short, until the courts decide otherwise sony cant make or sell dual shocks or any controllers with force feedback.
anyway back on subject, i personally like the controller s the best. anyone who plays racing games a lot will tell you that analog triggers are the only way to play. the thing is none of the controllers are anywhere near perfect. the s has the best grip, overall weight and dpad, but the face buttons are too close together and the pressure sensitivity isnt that intuitive. the black and white buttons are useless cause they are hard to hit and the start and back are annoying.

the ps2 has the best face button spacing, making it way better for fighting games. the pressure stuff is a little better(sony needs it since they dont have real triggers) but the dpad isnt that great and i still think the analog stick positioning sucks. despite what anyone says, they arent part of the controller design, they are just tacked on. it worked fine when digital control was still the norm but now they really need to put the left stick in the natural position. not to mention that its impossible to hit the start and select buttons without bumping into the sticks.

gamecube is an interesting beast, that controller has the best triggers(gotta love that digital click) and the best sticks(except for the lack of a button under them) the controller has a nice grip but is ruined by the lack of any weight. the button layout actually works well with a lot of games but i still perfer a diamond.

from what ive seen, the 360 controller addresses most of the trouble with the s and from closeup of the buttons, should have a similar feel to the dual shock when it come to pressure sensitivity. i doubt its perfect but im hoping its a major improvement. the ps3 controller looks bad right now and im glad that it was labeled "conceptual design only" but its great to see that they arent just gonna repackage the dualshock with a bluetooth transmitter, i'm hoping that sony will take some design cues from nintendo and ms and sega, just like those three comapnies got some of thier ideas from them.
