 Post subject: Parallel versus serial fans

I'm working on a project and had a question about serial and parallel connections and their effect on electric current and power. If I connect two 12v fans in parallel, will they both draw about 6v each? Our am I thinking about it wrong?

You're looking for SERIES and parallel, not serial.
Serial and parallel ports refer to these, respectively:

Anyway, in series, the two fans draw the same amount of power as one fan, but each one gets half. In your case, each will get 6V, as shown in this diagram:

In parallel, each will get 12V, but they will draw twice the amount of amps, as shown in this diagram.
