I have decided to go along a build a Wii laptop, but I need ideas for the case. Any suggestions would be great, but any graphics will be perfect (I'm not talking about actual Wii cases, but designs in programs such as paint.).

I was thinking about it myself and I'm thinking about having a latch where you could choose between 2 plugs to use as a power source, one being the normal wall socket plug and the other a battery. I was thinking about using a 5000mah nimh battery (after several power conversions I learned it would give the system 1.9 hours, I forgot to add the screen) But when the user was using the wall socket it would charge the battery.

Any thoughts?

Wouldn't a 5000mAh NiMH battery be almost as big as the Wii itself? If it charges from the same port as wall-outlet, it'd be easier to have a normal switch switch between AC power and battery. As for the design, Ben's design is pretty good IMO, just modify it for a battery.

One final thought, portabilizing a Wii is a bit ambitious for someone new to the hobby, lots could go wrong and you'd be out a $150 console. Something like NOAC/Nintendo NES based portable would be an easier starting point, as it's simpler and far cheaper. Plus the NES's control scheme for most games is actually suited to on-the-go gaming, compared to the Wii's point-at-the-screen controls.

Depends, on eBay I have seen 62000mah batts that would be the size of half a nintendo dsi.
When you start going for things like 98000mah, then it gets big and bulky.

I already have a 5000mah nihm, It's just about the width of a belt and the length of a DS.

I'm not going to build one, Nintendo just released a portable Wii at E3.

It's not a portable Wii, it's a new console that has a controller with a screen in addition to being hooked up to a TV.

1) Those are mostly fakes. They're functional, but no where near that capacity in reality.(and probably fire hazards to boot)
2) Those are Li-Ion or Li-Poly most times, not the older, bulkier NiMH

What voltage is this? A 12V NiHM with that capacity should be much larger. With the Amp draw of the Wii, a buck-boost converter would probably be impractical to get a lower voltage up to the 12V it wants.

Indeed they are.
