Well, this is awkward. This is the first time I've posted on your boards, so please bear with me. I have google searched the site regarding my question, so I apologise in advance if my question has already been answered before.

As I am not very good with physical modifications, I wanted to ask concerning the plausibility of an improvement to the PSP: the second analogue nub. Now, while I realise that such mods are available, these mods involve soldering connections to the face buttons. I would like to know whether it would be possible to place a second analogue nub on the right hand side of the PSP, but using the inputs of the D-pad instead of the face buttons.

You see, I love Monster Hunter, but the PSP versions have one horrible flaw: the camera is controlled by the D-Pad leading one to have to use one's index finger over the D-Pad whilst using the thumb on the analogue nub to move the character. It's exceedingly uncomfortable, which is why I am posing this question to you all. If it makes it any more feasible to do, I would be happy with having the D-Pad inoperable after such a mod.

This seems to be the largest flaw of the PSP. Hopefully they with add another stick with the PSP2. Ben did a mod adding a bigger analogue stick to a PSP to improve it, maybe you can use this to somehow map the D Pad.

This could possibly be used for your purposes. It looks like theres no way for you to accomplish what you're wanting to do without doing some simple soldering.

You'd have to translate the analog from the modded stick to the digital the D-Pad uses. It's easy to pull off but still has to be done.
