Re: PS1 / PSone CD-ROM Pinouts FOUND
Thank you. But I found a manual / schematic that had all the information, as well as a lot of my own research and experimentation.

Resistor lower the amps - right?
I said Voltage. Silly me...
So, either way it should of still worked with the resistors anyway, as they were only 47K Ohm resistors anyway!
Let me know if I am wrong anyway, and let me know how to slow the motor down...
I am thinking voltage regulators. Correct?

Well duhlimpport wrote:Pinouts copyright to Sony if anyone,
It is because I know NO ONE, who has done this and so want to claim the pinouts found by me.
I need to know how to slow down the motor...limpport wrote:what the hell are you talking about?
And god, if you spam and do all kinds of crap on MY topic, I will be getting a mod on you

Awesome, thanks bud
Looks good, though, excited to see this finished! It's gonna make a smexy looking portable!
Try out a potentiometer to slow down the motor. You'll be able to adjust the speed.

Ah, finally!
I am happy to now hear something nice and useful that you have typed.
THANKS
And yea, I was going to try a potentiometer (variable resistor) - so i'll let you know how that goes.
Thanks again limpport

Re: Haunted360 - PSone (SCPH-102) CD-ROM Pinouts / Slot Loading
Thanks buddy. That did the trick
I need to get I think lower resistance Pot's, as the ones I have a SUPER sensitive.
I mean, if I turn it 0.05 of a mm then it will cut off the power. To much resistance.
So this must mean I need to get the Ohms in the right resistance level.
Correct me if I am wrong ASAP so I know. Cause I will be going to Jaycar (Radio Shack) to pick 2 up.

Re: Haunted360 - PSone (SCPH-102) CD-ROM Pinouts / Slot Loading
Well, of course.
As soon as I am about to wire up my PSone drive motor to the Slot Loading Motor, I start soldering.
As soon as I finish, soldering the Ground (GND) on the PSone for the motor I start on the DATA (+5.9 Volts).
Of course, everything is unplugged. The PSone and the Slot Loading Drives power. Both. Negative and Positive, my
SOLDERING IRON EXPLODES in a great big blue flash of an arc, sending my Slot Loading Drive all crispy.
Just my luck.
So now I guess the dream of the Slot Loading PSone from a Laptop drive is gone...
However, I will try and get a Mac Slot Loading Drive and just do it the quick way by just adding the mechanism straight in without any mods.
*sigh*

That's pretty funny in a not-funny way. I've never heard of a soldering iron blowing up. What brand was that again, so I make sure to avoid it like the plague?

Just my two bits, but you don't have to get another Superdrive. You can easily get a slimline slot loader from most any computer parts supply store, such as NewEgg.com and you will probably save a lot. Doesn't even have to be a slimline, since the drives themselves are usually smaller than the casings. Pretty much any slotloading drive will work. Unless, of course, you have a good deal on a Superdrive, then it would probably be best since you are already used to working on one.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827106358" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Found this one, $50 for a pretty good slimline.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB397 ... TY3ODQ5OTY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
MacBook Air external superdrive is $80.
However, you could also just buy any *Book from ebay for real cheap that has a slot loading drive. People often sell broken ones for spare parts for very little. Titanium PowerBooks and non-unibody MacBook Pros are very easy to come by due to a design flaw that lead to the Logic Board(motherboard) fracturing easily when dropped. I just recently sold three different MacBook Pros that had fractured motherboards for $20 each. You can also salvage the RAM from these things if they have any left in them and sell that.
Just trying to help.

This one exactly
When I opened it up, the GND (Ground) wire was not attached and the Blue (other AC wire) was touching the transistor to the heating element. So the wire literally snapped off and touched the pins on the transistor! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?!?!?!
