Ok so I have done A LOT of searching for batteries and this is what I have come up with:
I will use two 6v NiMH, 2300mah battery packs. These ones to be exact:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-6V-2300mAh-NiMH-RX-Receiver-Battery-Pack-/260640777938?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories

And I plan on using this charger:

Any opinions on battery choice? I haven't ordered anything yet so i'm still safe if they won't work :D

Secondly, yesterday I promised pictures of my progress so here they are!

L/R triggers mounted

and positioning for electronics inside - nothing is glued yet

And I will be extending the wires to the DD using this method:

Here's an update of what I did yesterday...

I added 2 more button slots for Z/turbo (yes I have turbo. I find it useful for metroid prime)

I also cut a Large hole in the top for the black Nintendo Gamecube plastic disc thing. Whatever it is

What a cool project! Keep going! I like the form factor - usually when someone suggest a "laptop" style case it doesn't ever work out well, but you are doing a great job of it!

Thanks!! I got the case for free :D :D from an old DVD player that was given to me by my older brother's girlfriend. It didn't work anymore so I didn't have to shame over destroying it.

Also, for relocating the joystick, Can I simply extend the connections with wire to where I need it?

I believe the Hunt For Batteries may be over!! :D

I found these today: Link
and I am going to use a charger from batteryspace.com.

Only thing is, I need a protection circuit. I have no Idea what to look for when it comes to this so i'm looking for some help. I would like to order it from batteryspace, just for convenience. Seeing as i'm already buying from there

On another note, I have decided on paint for portable :D
The bottom half will be a flat black, and the top will be a semi-gloss white.
I think it will look very sleek. maybe it will even distract from the unbearable thickness

you can't really judge if a battery say's it's honest mAh just from it's colour.. but I must say, do be careful. I bought a 19v 20,000mAh battery a couple of weeks ago, and I opened it up, and inside was 20,000mAh @ 3.7v and a step up regulator taking it to 19v. I can say, as long as you buy LiPo batteries that are multiples of 3.7v (i.e 3.7v, 7.4v, 11.1v, etc..) and all they are is LiPo cells in heatshrink you should be fine. I'd avoid batteries that have built in electronics unless your buying from a reputable place.

OK Thanks for the heads up.

Problem :wtf:
Today I hooked up the console to a tv, just to make sure it worked. And it did :D
That's not the problem

When I tried to put a game in it, the disc drive did this weird thing. The laser would go to one end and keep trying to go there instead of trying to read the disc.
I took a video, but youtube doesn't like me so i'll try again tomorrow. Any advice would be helpful
