you should include the D-pad, better to have it and not need it.

Im having a hard time rewiring the traces I need some smaller wire and need to get better at soldering. I think I might just get a new controller and instead of rewiring the A B X Y buttons Ill just relocate the left analog stick and RB and LB (not using the triggers.)

Alright here's the game plan.
Get new controller.
Get desoldering braid.
Desolder Left Analog Stick and LB/RB buttons.
Get some wire and rewire the Analog and LB/RB buttons.
Frankencase 360 controller shell to netbook.
Hinge the screen onto netbook.

It sounds like you don't have much experience. I would start out on some cheaper stuff before hacking up $400 worth of netbook and controller. But it's your stuff, do what you want.

Got a new controller and desoldered the left analog stick without breaking it. Going to wire it up tomorrow or friday. Also got the left analog off the old controller and RB and LB buttons so I got some extra ones just in case. Case work coming soon aswell.

Got the Left Analog rewired, tested it out and it works. Here's a pic. Going to start the case work now. Still need to rewire the RB and LB and analog button.

Thanks man. I got the RB and LB wired and attached to the back of the netbook. Also got the controller case cut. I need to get some red paint for the casing and some epoxy. Should be finished by the end of the weekend or sometime next week.

Things left to do:
-Attach Screen.
-Paint controller casing.
-Epoxy the controller casing to netbook.
-Sand it.
-Touch up paint.

Hey got the case done today. Just waiting for paint to dry and then I'll put this bad boy together. Might have it finished by tonight. It's a little sloppy but Im happy with it so I don't care. Here's a pic.

All that's left now is to fasten the controls, casing and screen on with some hot glue. Here's some pics of the inside wiring and before the casing goes on. There's a lot of electrical tape holding down wires.
