Battery comparison
Moderator:Moderators
I am building a N64 portable with a separate battery inbuilt into the screen
Which one of these batteries is better for powering just the N64:

OR

Re: Battery comparison
The first one can power both.
And you get 5 of them!!! use two, and you can power the n64 and psone screen for like 5 hours

Re: Battery comparison
Sorry but I don't trust ANY battery from Hong Kong now. I have bought over 10 batteries from there and ALL of them have been less than 1/4 their rated power.
Tired of wasting my money.

Re: Battery comparison
It says nowhere in the auction what the voltage of the batteries are. They could be 1.5v batteries, and you would need all 5 to power the system.argelfraster wrote:The first one can power both.

Make sure you know all the facts before making recommendations.
Re: Battery comparison
It says pretty clearly they are lithium batteries all over the auction. Lithium polymer, Id gather from the shape.
*wait for it*
3.6 volts. comeon!

3.7v, come on!
Ya, those are li polies, which makes them 3.7v cells.
But Imma go with hailrazer on this one, I'd rather go to batteryspace where I can be sure I'm not buying a POS.

Re: Battery comparison
I hope you aren't going to start an argument over 0.1 volts
I like to use 3.6v in calculations, which considers that the cell is 50% discharged and under load. roughly. All these numbers are some kind of average as the voltage falls over the whole length of the cycle.

Still don't see where it says 3.6/3.7.....
I understand that you figured it out because li-po's aren't typically made at less than 3.7v. I don't think anyone new to batteries would have figured that out.
Re: Battery comparison
Really? Around here, that's almost like saying no one has a clue what voltage 'AA' alkaline batteries are.
If you look on Wikipedia it says it right there. If you search the forums it would say it right there. If you looked at other lithium battery auctions, they would probably say it too.

I think you're missing my point. I does not say on the eBay auction page does it say what the voltage of the batteries. Anyone new to this sort of thing may not nessisarily know that Li-Po's are, at minimum, 3.7v.
I agree with Hailrazer. Batteries from Hong Kong are crud. The ones I've used are cheaply made, and have terrible performance.
Ben used that one in his PS2 Portable (http://benheck.com/ps2-portable" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It is 9v, and is 5200 mA. It has a built in battery gauge, which can be handy. For the price, it'll be hard to beat. You can see it's internals on Ben's PS2P page.Alderion wrote:How is this battery
