1. Light dispersing panel (All my stuff was taken from an old laptop)
I dremeled out 2 semicircles in the sides so the LED goes in smoothly , and keeps the light all in one place
[IMG]
2. An LED or 2, make em small enough to fit
[IMG]
3. Tinfoil (I included a Pic if you have been in a coma for the past 80 years and dont know what it is)
4. A metallic Sharpie
[IMG]
5. Some white plastic that was on the bottom of the screen from the laptop
[IMG]
6. Some polarized film I found on ebay (Got some from ebay the size of paper for $3, I chucked the one in the laptop)
7. A NEW razor Blade
[IMG]
8.-Optional-A new screen Lens (Found on ebay for $5)
9.-Optional-A power switch
[IMG]
-Box o Materials-
[IMG]
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Now how to build it!
1. Take apart the Gameboy using a triwing screwdriver (As found here)
2. Now remove the screen mobo from the main mobo
[IMG]
3. Now remove all the screws from the screen mobo backing
[IMG]
4. Now pry the mobo off the casing, it will be stuck on so gently do this
5. Now remove the two screws (Small) in front of the screen
[IMG]
6. Now peel off the reflective layer off the glass using your NEW razor blade, after it should be just the glass
[IMG]
6-2. Apply too much pressure to the screen, and it will make a pop sound and look like this
[IMG]
6-3. There will be some stickyness left behind, take your time peeling it off.
Now take off your shoe, take off your sock, put your hand in the sock, put two fingers together cticking out of the sock, spray windex on them, now rub off the glue from the back of the screen (I know im so professional!)
7. Now cut off part of the plastic around the screen to make room for the panel, or drill holes if you let the light shine through
[IMG]
See where the part is missing?
8. Desolder time. Remove the indicated parts with you soldering iron
[IMG]
8-You should end up with the Power LED from the front, and two resistors as so
[IMG]
9. Now here is the wiring Diagram
[IMG]
10. Now wire up the -OPTIONAL- power switch like so
[IMG]
if you dont know how to wire on up  just solder on opposing pins
[IMG]
11. Put the metallic shrapie on 3 of the 4 sides, leaving one of the shorter sides untouched (This traps the light, or use more tinfoil)
12. Now to assembly the backlight, put the tinfoil under the light dispersing panel
[IMG]
13. Put the white panel ontop (I dont know what it is, but it helps keep the light not so bright, and makes it look cooler)
14. Now remove some of the mobo so the switch can fit (Upper right hand part of screen)
After
[IMG]
15. Now put your resistor that was removed earlier where I showed in the diagram, and wire that to the positive terminal, then solder the negative terminal to the ground source where the LED used to be
[IMG]
16. Slide in the film ontop of the light panel
[IMG]
17. Now cut away part of the case for the new switch
[IMG]
18. install the switch, put it all together, and now your playing with power (Yes I know thats a nes slogan)
The final Product!!

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
I used some frosted glass thing on some mirror tinfoil, metallic marker (Dont use spray paint, I mess up really terribly), and something else thats white, but I forget what its from
Also, to remove the stickiness of the back of the screen, I used a sock and windex, I tried using wrapped toothpicks but when I slipped I ruined one screen
Give me ten minutes and Ill be posting another one, but really crappy one

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
is it or not, because I could backlight this in an hour, and I still can not frontlight a GBA after 5 hours of work.
I am looking into 2 more backlight ideas, and a new stupid, but fun idea. but thats a secret
