Not a portable. Project HackBOX will be a home console.

I think you said in page 3 that you accidentally touched the 3.3v line with 12v - that is more than ample to fry the board - even 4v can fry it, let alone 12v.

That's how I killed my first N64 board for my portable. Had to redo all my cart slot wiring. Bleh.

Well I'll try it Monday, if it doesn't work I'm labeling it dead and scavenging it for parts.

Cart slot, red led, that's about it lol. I don't think I'll try again. This failure is really demoralizing for me. And I probably won't be able to find another cheap 64.

Only part to salvage from a dead N64 are the two metal brackets in the case (good to secure the cart in place), LED, on/off switch, reset switch and the cart slot itself, especially if the cart slot is a good one.

Probably not, but I'll know for sure by Monday.

Confirmed that the N64 is dead. And I haven't got the XBOX yet so I can't start HackBOX. But I've got a little background project which is a mini-radio. I found this clock/radio/telephone combo and I'm hacking it. Easy because the radio is on its own board and only needs 9V, no weird signals. Has 3 redundant and 4 unnecssary wires, lol. Going to build a hacked ATX power supply soon too. And maybe I'll revamp the UVR...

Bottom line: The YAP64 is on hiatus but I've got plenty of projects.

oh I cant wait till you start work on your n64p, go through the hours of cart slot relocation etc... only to find that you screwed up one connection and have to start over cos you fried your mobo, which statistically speaking will probably happen especially if its your first time working with n64's and especially if its your first time soldering.
