As I warned you in the title, this is just a simple project. Took maybe 20 minutes to complete. This is also a dedication to my fiancee and soul-mate "Fishy", as well as to my 666th post. I never thought that I would last that long on these forums.

We (Meaning me and Fishy) were at FYE (For Your Entertainment) not long ago and as we passed by the checkout to leave, our eyes set upon this:

Image

These are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Ice Arrow Mints. Quite simply, they are generic round mints stuffed into a small tin that looks like a Hylian Shield. Nothing overly special, but worth getting as we are both fans of the game (Who isn't?). As we ate our mints, we wondered what we could do with the tin after it was empty. Use it for coins? No, it's far to thin to hold more than $2 in quarters. Condom case? No...Just no. Nothing we thought of was good enough for our little geeky tin of Zelda goodness. Except... No. Was it possible? Would it all fit? Sure, it was wide enough. But was it tall enough? Barely...In fact it's a little too short. But could it be done?

...

...

...

Yes. Yes it could. (Don't mind the green back ground... It's my "Poor Mans' Green-Screen". $3 at a CVS so I can do special effects for photography.)

You are looking at a 2-gig Lexar thumb drive thats been stuffed into a Hylian shield. But thats just the start, really. It's fully upgradeable. Pop the top off, pull the wire and drive out and switch to a larger drive (As long as it is that type of Lexar drive). It is a little bit bulkier, but it's also stronger, and the drive is better protected. Name suggestions? Link Drive? Flash Shield?

The hardest part was drilling a nice hole for the wire so it didn't look botched together. I think I did fine.

By the way, this was made for "Fishy". As I'm typing this I'm pulling the data I have off the drive thats happily sitting in the shield. Pretty cool gift for a Zelda fan, I think.

SS, I think they are like $2 at FYE. They had a ton of them. The mints are good too.

For our FYE, they were by those Japanese drinks. You know, the ones that use a clear glass marble as a stopper?

Image

Those are delicious by the way.

You DO know that eating marbles is not a smart thing to do, right? :P
