What about "Portastation"? Sweet and simple, but it works. "PlayBoy" is a good name too.

Yes, "Playboy" is not a good choice, will get lots of jovial comments on Engadget and other sites, I can see the headlines now... Image

"PocketStation" is very good but as you say, used elsewhere so I can't use it.

"PortaStation" is rather good, seems popular (two people thought of it) - think I will use that, with one small change of adding a "*" to separate. "Porta" is good. I will have a series of three consoles, using the same casing front, so can call them:

Porta*Station
Porta*N64
Porta*SNES

Ok, Suggestions? :?: Yeah, Porta-Potty, Porta-Loo.

Handy*Station
Handy*N64
Handy*SNES

Come on guys, brainstorm!

Made the holes in the top, the two contrast buttons left of the Select and two volume buttons right of the Start button. Looks nice. As case is black and buttons are black, isn't actually going to be that noticeable anyway.

Maybe Porteria sounds pretty good. Maybe use a name that somehow incorporates Bacteria's username.

...Or, maybe not. Those names are hard to think of. :?

"Handy" is kinda Chev's mark on the modding world, so I'd stay away from that.

You could always shorten "Porta" to "Por. So its PorStation.

Thus:

Por*Station
Por*N64
Por*SNES

Or

Por*Station
Por*64
Por*Super

Take the point HBN, "Handy" is out.

See what I mean about thinking a name!

Porteria sounds like somewhere in Tuscany; Playteria - I thought of trying to incorporate "Bacteria" somewhere but it doesn't work.

MobileStation sounds quite good. Works with MobileN64 and MobileSNES too.

Current favourite unless anyone can beat it, or think of a reason MobileStation is not a good name.

This is good, I like input; it is what a forum is all about after all.

As to the system, here is a pic with the contrast and volume buttons cut out. As already ascertained, having a logo between the buttons at the top and a name at the bottom makes the system casing look quite symmetrical.

Image

Just put a blank (reject, not flat) case underneath, to get a feel for the final thickness and how it feels, as I needed to identify the position my index fingers touch, for the shoulder buttons. This looks crude, especially as the edges on the reject case underneath is untrimmed; but gives an idea of thickness and shape.

Image

I must say, holding the cases together, my fingers land on default by the d-pad and 4 buttons, easy and comfortable also for the joysticks and the shoulder buttons can be mounted in a sensible place. System is easy to grip and comfortable to hold. I am impressed! :D

Once the top two shoulder buttons are in place, it will be time to give the casing a light sanding, give it a wash, then start the spray painting process. I can then get the system guts in place, then I know the exact size for the back casing, so I can make a mold for it, prepare the case, and then spray paint that. Lots of work to go yet. I won't have much time for the rest of the weekend, but will have some time on Monday morning for project work.

Pleased you like it SS. I am going for broke and trying to make the best looking PSone portable and the best looking N64 to boot; and offer everyone the opportunity to make their own to a similar design using similar cases. Better looking systems than Ben made and cheaper cases to buy too. Win, win.

The white looks rather nice, hoping the metallic black looks even better. It will be more resistant to general marks too.

I don't know about the metallic black... black paint shows flaws like a MOTHER. I know from experience, so this isn't a baseless statement ;)
