why, yes he is the soldering master. even though my computer views the videos with bad resolution, I can still tell. BOW DOWN BEFORE HIM AS HE IS THE MASTER! (i'm sorry, but I had to say that in caps. the reason I put that in my sig is because I passed in surface mount soldering on a broken playstation that I got at goodwill. It was hard, but the battle was long and successful!) That coil trick works perfect vb, so do not disregard it. it just might help. and that post was before I got good at it....
and that's out of my sig because people think it's 'boastful'...yeah right...
try out that trick....REALLY.... by the way, retromaster has no capital m in it.
where do you keep getting those custom pcbs?

Either etching them myself or buying kits.
I added a logo.

And decided the next episode will be about flashing Xbox 360.

Im curious, did they manage to get around the anti-hacking measures that Microsoft is installing in new drives (ie. pouring black epoxy all over the firmware chip  )

I have some questions about flashing the 360. First off, can you play burned games without a mod chip? Secondly can you still play on Xbox Live? Honestly I haven't looked much into this myself, as the only thing to cause me to modify my 360 would be playing my "backups" and I don't have a DVD writing drive to "backup" my games in the first place.

I didn't film the process because I was cursing under my breath the whole time taking apart the thing.

Yes to all of them. You need a dual layer DVD burner too.

Hm. I should have the torx screwdrivers but do I absolutely NEED that unlocking tool? Is there any way to do this without it?

You can take it apart still but it will be pretty hard. See this: http://www.xboxchopshop.com/catalog/man_360_open.php

Not sure where I saw it, but you can remove that black epoxy with a hot air gun and a pokey object.

You don't even need to do that to flash it...

Your burner may work, but these are the preferred products:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827129001 <-- This burner, legendary performance for 360 burning.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817130008 <-- These DVD's, again, legendary for 360 media.
Tutorials:
http://www.ncsx.com/2007/011507/x360_opening.htm <-- this tutorial for XCM tool.
http://www.xboxchopshop.com/catalog/man_360_open.php <-- this tutorial for no XCM tool.
http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/c=11.html <-- this tutorial for flashing.
xbox-scene.com & forums.xbox-scene.com <-- all other info

You could also PM me for help.
