I think I forgot to put the jumper pack in once. I felt so stupid and relieved when I figured it out. Putting a jumper pack in is a lot easier than opening and, for you, relocating the cart slot again. How long did it take you and how good are your soldering skills?

EDIT: also, what temp soldering iron did you use?

the 1st time i wired it backwards. the second time, i wired it right but my old car adapter died so i thought the N64 died (i could have just gotten a new dc-dc convertor then but i found that out after the 4th relocation). then i got a new N64 and wired it on backwards again. after that i finally wired it right but now there's 2 new problems before i finish it; my battery and controller died. you don't really need to desolder anything to relocate the cart slot, so far i've avoided any desoldering on the N64 board

off the anniversary subject,

I had to use this huge soldering iron to desolder the expansion port pins which overheated the copper causing it to lift up a bit, then I cleared out all the holes with that iron and a pump, then today I started jumping all the grounds and stuff with my diagram as a guide, but it all got too hard and not worth the extra effort, so I desoldered them but couldnt clear out the holes with the solder pump! for those holes I just pushed the wire in from one side and kept the solder liquid on the other. Hence the warped/burnt wires and general mess everywhere.

does this mean you basically desoldered the EXT port???

that makes things a lot clearer :D

do you think a 25w soldering iron is enough to desolder the EXT. port? :?

WOAH. Did you fry it or anything? I have a 60W, you think that'll fry the N64?

yeah, i just posted,

anyways, the ext slot did NOT come out with a 25w soldering iron.

if i can't at all desolder the ext port, do you think using super glue (to connect the wires to the holes) would work
