I want to turn an Xbox Duke into a wireless Xbox 360 controller like Ben did.

However since I am new I was hoping to get a bit of advice. I do have very good soldering skills. I have tinkered here and there with stuff growing up and consider myself mechanically inclined and a fast learner.

I have been doing research and it looks like some key things to pay attention to are the button traces on the boards, how to attach the 360 PCB to the Dukes and how to position the extra buttons I need to add for sync and what not.

I know there is a lot more than that but before I get my hands dirty and start this project I was hoping that anyone here who has done any controller mods like this or similar might be able to throw a few bits of advice my way?

ANY advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! There is a member here, I'm pretty sure his name is RDC, who does a lot of custom controller work. like a PS360 controllers and such. Hit him up with a PM and I hope he can help you out!

And enjoy your stay here

It's pretty straightforward. Remove EVERY component from the duke's mobo except the trigger potentiometers, than remove the pots from the 360 controller and solder away. You need to relocate RB and LB to black and clear, and the guide button/ LED's to a tact switch. The useless memory card bay thing is good for batteries.

Edit- actually, the 360 board fits perfectly under the buttons! Just replace the joystick caps and rewire the RB/ LB on PC board with tacts and the trigger pots.

Hey thanks guys.

Actually I did contact RDC prior to this post and he replied with a few links that I have been researching.

It sounds like I should be able to figure this out.

ESCO303,

I'm planning on starting this project as a Christmas gift. Can you reply with the links that RDC gave you so they are a part of this thread? For me, and future people wanting a big controller for their 360.

I've found the following article helpful for this project so far:
