Digging through my closet, found an old Powerbook 190cs.
Hmm…being the resident (and fairly inactive) Mac freak, I remember many things about this 'Book…

First is it is one of the Big Three of Apple's final non-G3 PowerBooks:
the 5300 (famous for its spontaneous combustion), the Duo 2300c (the one I have) and obviously the 190. It was also the last Mac ever to use a Motorola 68k-series processor before Apple switched to the PowerPC. I think there was also an article on hackaday a while ago about a guy who replaced the dead HD in his PB 100-series with a CF card…

If I don't take kindly to you in the future, at least you know why.

And if you're going to feel strongly about something and express it in an offensive way, don't be a frickin' hypocrite. The Xbox 360 uses a tri-core IBM PowerPC 970 processor that was co-developed by none other than Apple for use in their Power Mac G5 (the computer I'm typing this from).

I'm afraid all your laptops are quite young... I have a Zenith Data Systems laptop, grey/blue screen, 8086 with 8087 math FPU, a 20meg hard drive, 720k floppy, and 512kb ram.
It runs DOS 4.01 and I play Rogue on it.

Then I have my Gateway 2000 Solo P3C with a 90mhz Pentium, 40MB ram, 1.2gb hard drive and Windows 95. I use this laptop quite a bit. I am rebuilding the battery pack currently (it was one of the first to have a Lithium Ion battery pack.) I use it for web browsing with a wireless card.

These old things are great for playing older games... anyone up for Stunts?

What about the 1400? IIRC it was their first to sport an internal CD-ROM drive (and a tiny-arse tinny speaker )

Duo 2300c's rule. 8)
It was also the last Mac ever to use a Motorola 68k-series processor before Apple switched to the PowerPC.
I thought that was the Quadra 630? :? (1993, 33mhz 68040)
I think there was also an article on hackaday a while ago about a guy who replaced the dead HD in his PB 100-series with a CF card…
I remember that. The guy had to make a board to get the Mac to recognize the CF card as a hard drive.

Sorry about all the above, like I said before I get all excited about the old Mac stuff.

That's the same one I have! so there IS more than one left in existance! (but my hard drive is 16 MB. It might be failing and reformatted, who knows?)

Ha! I have an Osborne downstairs. Here are the specs, and was made in '82 (predating my birth by two years).

Yes, though sadly mine requires quite a bit of work until it is usable again. Needs a new display cable, dock, minidock and I'm thinking of modding it to accept an external IDE CD-ROM. Plus, the battery pack doesn't hold much of a charge either, so I'll need to replace the NiMH cells or I could restock it with some lithiums, hmm…

Looks like either a 128k or a 512k. Check the back label. (probably not a Plus, it doesn't say Plus on the front like my grandparents' old mac did. They went Plus to Performa all in one to Graphite iMac )

You can get old downloads on apple's old servers!

Here's the main North American English download directory. Apple sure did a good job trying to hide this, it's just a small link hidden near the bottom of their Support Downloads page.

Everything from 6.0.3 to System 7.5.5 is avalible for free downloads, including System Enablers, OS components, the speech recognition system, and Newton drivers. And that's just scratching the surface!

Wow they even have the Apple IIGS Desktop OS avalible for download!

Does Microsoft have any legacy software on their site?

EDIT: I don't think System 6.0.x will run on a 512k, but it might.

Or you might have a Plus. Who knows?
