The Advantages of The LED Mod?

Is there any other advantage to the LED mod other than lower power consumption? Does it really make that much of a different to the display?

Most people prefer the original backlight for looks, so power consumption and a small size saving are the only things to gain.

Pretty much it's just for lower power consumption. The screen isn't as bright with the LED mod, which is why many people keep the tube.
