i got an idea. what if someone redesigned the psp? you know make it there way with no probloms. do you think it would work?

speak your thoughts on it.

my psp has 1 (arg ONE) yes one dead pixil in it. its in the upper right hand corner of the screen tho so cant tell its there when playing a game. but if u watch a movie or intro to a game and its black u can see its a white pixel in the middle of the blackness..
for what its worth i dont realy know how u would make the PsP any better besides the screen and pixels. i could use more volume on it tho, its not loud enough for my blood.

EXTREMELY FRAGILE Sorry about the Caps lock but it is! I opened it, just to see inside, and EVERYTHING BROKE! All I did was open it, and I didn't touch anything, and it broke!

that's because 'so many peeps' are morons

pretty much every high resolution LCD has dead pixels--the one I'm looking at now has at least 1 that I've seen. (probably closer to a dozen)

I guess you could, with great effort, put a lower quality screen on it--like a psone monitor. That'd give you fewer pixels to die, but I'm not sure that's really "fixing" anything... And I don't even know if the PSP uses anything resembling normal video. It wouldn't be typical for a purpose-built portable to have it.

The best solution is to get a hold of a bunch of PSP screens and find one you don't hate. Like mixing eggs at the supermarket. Or find a really stupid retailer that will let you keep returning PSPs until you don't have any dead pixels.

the psp uses some sort of digital format for it's screen....unless you were able to decode that to be able to let the psp ouput composite video (or RGB, even) then there's not much you can do about dead pixels....and Reaperman's right, all lcds are prone to dead pixels...

It is possible to convert this video. Nobody's put out a product yet, but I'm sure they will. once more people get the courage to open their $250 devices...

Back in its day, GBA had something called a 'Transverter' to convert its video to various standard formats. The problem was that the transverter was almost as bulky as the entire GBA. and required a surprising amount of power.

also, it's needless to say that converting PSP video will drop its quality. And the ultra sharp picture is about the only thing that draws me to that system.

I say just wait for Sony to make another version that has all the bugs worked out. That's what they've done for every system they've made so far, I don't see why they wouldn't do it for PSP.

Also the dead pixels are not that big of a deal, I don't see why people complain about them. They appear on on every color LCD eventually. My pocket TV has a couple, my 17" monitor has a LOT, my PSOne screen has about 7. But you don't usually notice unless you are really looking for them.

i have the PSP, actually its my 2nd one, had to return the first, i had over 20 dead pixels, and a HAIR, YES A DAMN HAIR, behind the screen covering... not to mention dust... i luv how clean they keep their production lines... the system is fragile, and the games are weak ports from the PS2, and the EA sports line is just a boiled down version of their older brothers.

not to mention the price of the unit...

wish i woodnt have bought it... not unless sony can prove me wrong.

i prefer to portablize stuff instead of buy them because consoles usually have more and better games than portables and i'm a very cheap person
