mmm, thats weird, I though the ps1 screen needed 700 mA (400 mA if led modded), and the gamecube power suply provide 12v 3,25A

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=30976&start=0

my screen is arround 1000 mA (1A)

I also got this from a multimeter on my gamecube + screen setup :
both need between 2,25 and 2,45 A
so the original power suply from gamecube was enough to power both. (tested it several times)

if you are just using the gamecube + the psone screen, you shoulnt have trouble with it, specially if your screen needs lower mA than mine.

btw I suspect there is something weird the regulator you ordered, maybe it can not output enough power, or it is damaged. you can check the regulator specs at the site you bought it, if the regulator output is not correct, or it doesnt have enough amps to power the screen, I suggest to adquire another regulator.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the psone screen needs 7.4 volts, and if it has any less, the backlight doesn't work.

I know exactly where you heard that too.
Misinformation is bad.
So here is the real answer: The PSone screen can run on a minimum of 7 volts. THEN it drops out.

Well, the regulator is supose to give 8 V.
I think it is that i gave the PSone screen -+ and+-.
when i tried it the first time, the regulator got very hot.
so, i re-wired it and after that it didn`t get hot but, only the screen and sound
That`s maby the problem.

not sure about the s-video with ps1 screen, but this will help a lot for wiring video and audio.

if posible, try RGB

I also found this link relating the S-video at the ps1 screen

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20158

about your regulator, everything looks like you fried or "half-fried" it, replacement regulator is really recomended.

It must be compasite or S-video.
As we all know, compasite suck.
S-video is good so i want S-video.
That`s also my only solution with out buying a new PSone screen. :(

yep,I know composite is not the best video signal ^^, btw sometimes is the only way to make a portable.

If u want S-video and if your ps1screen is pal, use this:

http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20158

why buy another screen?

you told about the screen still working with the official power adaptor, and even if the backlights are broken, you can try the ledmod, the led mod also will increase battery life. btw all of this will be useless with a faulty regulator

The stupid thing is that i can`t find that 220 uF 10v capasitor to make it work with S.video with.

The thing i did not know is how im supose to conect the S-video. Like staright from the GC MOBO or something with out
the RCA cable.

you can buy the capacitor on any serius electronic store.

here u have a GC analog port output will help you with the s-video connections http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5617 ... am2iv4.png

http://pinouts.ru/Video/SVideo_pinout.shtml

basically all you need to worry about is color (Chrominance , or chroma) , Intensity (Luminance or luma) and the ground, since the last pinout I gave to you seems use different grounds per chroma and luma, and dont sure about the gamecube grounds at the analog exit, you can try with common ground to chroma and luma.

sorry If If there is some info missing, but I never wired yet any S-video since the PAL gamecube just output C-video, and a weird RGB signal from analog port I was unable to convert to VGA

Thats the stupid thing about Norway.
They don`t have a thing!!!!

I will never get my hands on a capisitor

The only way i can use my PAL PSone screen is to mod it to take S-video.

I updated the first post.
