:D :D :D I finally did something with the GCp!!!!!!!!! I finally got the GC and PSone screen to run off of 14.8 volts. Yeah it's not much but I'm finally beginning to progress on the project. Now that I have the power and audio/video all done I'll probably rewire the power supply for the GC to save space and then I'll figure out what I'm going to do with the R and L buttons. I was actually think of using the Xbox R and L buttons because I was looking inside an Xbox S controller (a see through one) and I saw that the R and L buttons are kind of like pushbuttons only they're push sensitive. I'll probably take apart one of my Xbox Duke controllers and mess around with it either today or tommorow.

bit of bad news........my power regulator for the GC has broken :(. I' ve found one online but I'm gonna have to wait to get it in the mail..........my psone screen still works, and since I can't work on wiring, I might finally build the vacuum form table. It's not like the one I'm building is hard, it's just that I'm too lazy to go and get the few more supplies I need..........

I did some desoldering today and I shortened the GCp's width to about 1.5 inches, minus the disc reader. It was just ports for online playing, but I don't think I'll ever need those for the GC.........also there was the port where the gameboy player hooks up t.

I think I found a good way to arrange all the parts , and when I have all the wiring done, which will be as soon as those power regulators come in, I'll post a pic of what I have so far.

after this, I wrote:
I have decided on the final dimensions of the GCp. I've redesigned the case to have a horizantal layout; the vertical layout just seemed to uncomforatable and heavy. The dimensions are 10.5x6x1 (lengthxheightxwidth, in inches). For the controller, I'm going to cut off the buttons+c-stick part and attach wires to the 44 pin controller chip on the other side. I just found out which pins they are:
A=pin 2, B=pin 1, Z=pin 6, Y= pin 12, X=pin 14, R=pin 8.
Also there's the c-stick, which has three pins and they're on pins 40, 39, and 4. The R button's potentiometer's two pins are 34 and 44.

Tommorow (today I've got homework :( ) I'll make a quick design of it in paint so that you'll know what it looks like. (basically it's going to be rectangular)

Theres a super cool design. A box. :D Well who cares what it looks like its probably gonna be the first GCp so even if its a plain box its gonna be cool!

I drew this up in paint real quick today. If you're wondering, the disc drive goes on the back.

I guess it is just a box....but at least it's a GCp box! And it's easier to make out of clay :D

I finally built my vacuum form table and later today I'll try to post up pics. I should be able to get the case made soon. I've got the clay, vacuum form table, and the plastic is on it's way.

I hope it turns out good too....

Spongebuell: yeah sure put it up on doomportables. for the caption you could put something like, "A quickly drawn concept of Gamelver's GCp" maybe later I'll clean it up the , make it look better.

here's an interesting fact about the GC: lately i've been messing around with the GC power regulator, trying to figure out what voltages the GC needs. During my tests I found out that the power regulator puts out 1.9v, 3.4v, 5v, and 12v. later I'll test and see which one of those voltages the GC actually needs and I'll test the draw on them.

btw, spongebuell/gannon/abbibi (even though I don't think he'll see this....) for the motherboards page on PoD the it says the GC voltage needed is just 12. maybe you can add those other voltages to the 12v. you could put them in parentheses
just a suggestion........

after this, I wrote:
Finally some pics!!!! Here's my vacuum form table, as you can see it's a real simple design. Also there is my modified GC mb and the li-poly batteries I'm using. Also there's my workspace, which I just cleaned up and organized! (kind of) Enjoy!

Image Here's the vacuum form table.

Image Here's my workspace, complete with a tv for making the GC still works when I modify it. (or for playing games....)

Image Here's the GC power regulator board, modified to be smaller and wired to the GC board.

Image Here's the modded GC mb. as you can see it looks a little different than the one on gamesx.com or PoD. I removed all the ports to save room.

Image Finally here's the li-poly batteries I'm using. This is one set for 14.8 @ 2.2 Ah and I have the other one somewhere for the other14.8v @2.2 Ah.

So the 14.8 volts is that streight in or did you use a dc-dc to bring it down to 12 volts?

no I just keep it at 14.8v, the GC power regulator board acts as a dc-dc converter to change the 12v or higher into 1.9v, 3.4v, 5v, and then then 12, or in this case, 14.8, for the GC.
