Make sure you do your homework on Li-Polymers before using them. I've heard if you charge them incorrectly, they burst into flames (no joke).

Yeah you have to buy specific charger which costs about 50 bucks
But if I have enough money for a pair of Li-poly and a charger I'll buy it.

Yeah, for the charger I want and the cells, it'd be almost $380.
Maybe if I get a summer job I'll get them since it'd be a 14.8V 8.8A and 15.2 oz. pack. Hopefully, the ps2 will run off of 11V, then I'll save $60, or I'll get an extra 2.2A

700 mAH for a $20 battery? That wouldn't give you much playtime unless you wire a few in parallel.

after spongey said this, gannon wrote:
Here are the batteries I was looking at. I would have a 4S4P circuit for 14.8V and 8.8A.

What charger are you buying gannon? If it's not too much then I'll probably end up getting some.

after I said this, gannon wrote:
Actually, since I wanted to be able to charge my batteries quickly, I was going for the astroflight 109 li-poly charger. It can charge at a maximum rate of 8A with 9 cells, which would mean that the batteries I want would charge in around 2.5 hours. That's nice since they'd give around 4+ hours of use.

I think that's much better than nicd or nimh, I'm tired of waiting 15 hours for my batteries to charge, although I'm sure that could be changed with a better charger also.

hmmmmmm 130 dollars...pretty expensive. But those batteries definitely would be useful. Like I said I'll probably end up buying them sooner or later. Thanks for the link.

Ok I finally found a case design that I think would work for the GCp. The design I want to use looks a little bit like this (scroll down until you see the GCp concept by Nick862). It, of course, will not look exactly like this but you get the idea, screen and system in the middle with the controller protruding out the sides. I should be ordering some clay soon and start working on a vacuum-form table.

Ignore the link above. I'll just give the url:

Ok I've decided, to conserve space, to use a PSone screen for the GCp. I plan on taking out the 7805 regulators and just converting the 14.8v into 5v. I also plan on doing the backlight mod for the PSone screen. Just gotta order some LED's.

Ok I'm about to start building the clay mold for the case but I'm a little stuck. I want to replicate the controller and make a clay model of the controller so that I won't have to move any of the parts from the controller to put it in the case. If you look at dkap001's PSp you'll know what I mean. I'm not very talented in clay so I need to know a way to replicate the controller. So any help would be very much appreciated.

I'd just take the case of the controller and incorporate it into the clay mold, then when you make the plaster cast it has an exact copy of the controller.

hmmmm I suppose I could do that. I'd have to fill in the holes to make the controller flush with the rest of the clay, though. I'll try it. Thanks.

For the controler in my PPS, I didnt make it out of clay.. What I did was make the clay mold, vacuum form it, then I took my dremel and cut out the shape of the controler.. After that just glue it in and fill in the cracks with some body putty.. This way buttons, dpad and joy stick line up perfect.

Gamelver:

On your gamecube have you tested it to see how long the battery will last ? I tryed my today with 10 AA bateries and it lasted 45min, but I see you are running 12 AAs. The gamecube runs on 12v, but are you running yours on 14.4v.. Let me how long yours last..

I think I get what you're saying about the controller but could you clarify one thing for me? Did you make a clay mold of just the controller and then attach it to the rest of the case? Like I said before I think I get what you're saying but I just want to be sure.

As for the batteries, I actually switched to using Lithium Polymer batteries because I could get more battery life with less weight and less of a charging time. I got 8 3.7 2200 mAH cells and I'll wire them so that I get 14.8 4400 mAH (btw, they just came in the mail today :D). My DC-DC converter and LEDs also came in the mail today :D so I'm going to wire everything up over the next couple of days and I'll calculate how long the batteries will last with everything hooked up

Oh yeah, how's your N64p? If you've finished the case or even the clay mold please post some pics.
