i just got a genesis (version 1) from a flea market. i have an RF chord to hook it up, a 9V power adapter (not the official one, but i plugged it in and the light went on, so i think im good) but no games or controls yet. i was thinking of making a controler for it, and i was wondering how i would use the information posted above to do that? and what would i need for that sort of thing? is that even possible?

You would be better off getting a normal controller. If you honestly want to have your own controller, just make a new case. :? There are for sure pages here for case making.

I need to make my own AV cord for the genesis 3 I picked up. I don't really want to buy one because it would cost like $12 total thru e(vil)Bay and I wouldn't even be able to use it on my regular Genesis 1. I plan on hacking up the Genesis 3 anyways, but I'd like to know for sure that it works before I start doing so.

Got bored so I made this. It is for something specific I'm doing, but I figured someone might have a use. (I used the info from the one at the start of the thread, but added the solder blobs.)

(Genesis 2 and 3, if you couldent tell.)

EDIT: Decided to remove my Genesis Region Switch Instructions, for lack of details, really bad instructions overall, and no images. Just Google to figure out how to fit a region switch.

Could you do one for Genesis 1 with Solder blobs?

OK, the Sega forum is lacking a reference sticky, so I'd better get off my lazy butt and make one! :P

THIS STICKY IS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Feel free to add your own info! -The Management
Please be patient as I slowly piece the Sega info together. :))

Places to get Cartridge connectors:
-Old consoles
-Digikey
-Game Genies
-Sonic & Knuckles cartridges

Most 64-pin card-edge connectors with a .1 pitch will work.

<b><a href="http://benheck.com/Downloads/RadicaCartridgeSlot.jpg">Click here for the Radica-cart slot pinout chart</b></a>
The chart may look confusing, but don't worry, it's not too hard. Just match the pin on the ROM chip to the pin on the cart slot with the same name (A10 to A10, b52 to b52, GND to GND...)

AV pinouts:
<img src="http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/32xpin.jpg"><img src="http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/gen1.jpg">

Note! The numbering sequence on this diagram is NOT the proper numbering, and won't match the numbers on your connector.

Time to update that Link, its gives a 404 error at Bens main page.

Just thought we should have a link to the list of "finished" portables that c_mon was kind enough to put together.
