i have a sega genesis 2 that has a problem with the receptacle where the power cord plugs in....anyone have any ideas how to repair. It will play but then it goes off...loose connection apparently. Not sure about how to obtain the part or repair the old part. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: The Big SEGA Info Sticky!
I have a little tip for all of you:
If you have a Genesis/MegaDrive flying around somewhere and only a RF-Unit for the Video output, you can make yourself a Video- and Audio-output with Chinch-Plugs.
1)Get yourself three Chinch-plugs(old Chinch-cables of other consoles, DVD-Players, etc.) in red, white and yellow and cut off the (Male) ends.
2)Open up the RF-Unit and de-solder the four wires f the RF-Unit coming from the Genesis (Black , white, yellow, red)
3)Now solder the Video output-wires of the Genesis/MegaDrive to the fitting cinch-plugs(yellow to the center of yellow, white to the center of white, etc., black to the metal shielding of all the three wires)
4)make sure you haven't made a short circuit.
5)Isolate the soldered parts to prevent short-circuiting
6)Plug in and enjoy!(Tested on a PAL Megadrive 2)

and does this mean that you can plug in all three av cables to a tv and not have to connect the sega to the aerial and stuff?

Re: The Big SEGA Info Sticky!
I had to replace the power jack in My second generation Genesis.
Not being able to find one locally, I went online to Digikey.com
I have found digikey part number CP1-021-ND to be a spot on PERFECT match. not bad for $.50
to bad the shipping was $2.41
Hope this information is useful to someone.
BTW, it should be the same for the third gen also, they do use the same wall wart.
