Hackmodford's Dreamcast Portable Comission

Post by hackmodford » Thu Nov 04, 2010 12:53 pm

Well I like really really need to build this thing for a guy...

It's kinda embarassing

But when I lost the ability to cut sidewalls a lot of my projects just got stuck in limbo. Including some handhelds I had to build.

But that's past me now :D I finished the Sega Genesis and so now I need to finish the Sega Dreamcast.

I have the sidewalls (or most of them)
I now have a reliable way to get the plates cut (and future sidewalls from 3/8" clear acrylic)
I have the dreamcast
I need to buy a 10 ohm resistor to fix controller port 1
I have the controller.
I have the batteries
I have the screen (and have supplies needed to mod it)

I'm going to order the case plates. And Hot glue it all together  Sound good?

It's going to look similar to the one in my sig except it's black and doesn't go in on the bottom.

Buy a bulk package of resistors at Radioshack. You can get a 500-piece assortment of every resistance you'll ever need for around $15.

And I managed to contact the comissioner 8)
Which is always good.
I expected the quote for the plates yesterday... but oh well. Next thing on the list is to start removing stuff from the dreamcast and wire up the pico PSU

I just got word from the engraving shop. They said $25 bucks for each piece I need cut.

Backplate
Frontplate
Screen Backplate (the lid part)
Screen Front Plate

And I might need them to cut out the sidewalls...

I gave them the go so here we go!

The Dreamcast runs of 7.4v just fine on the 12v line. Use 2 of the 4700 mAh Li-Po's in my guide and you're much better off.

Are you serious? Maybe I shouldnt use the picopsu? I have two of the regulators commonly used for. The n64. So what do I need 7.4, 5 & 3 volts?

On a side note I found the sidewall pieces I had cut earlier... Ill probably need a few more cut though...

A 7.4v battery and a 7805 regulator for the 5v and a Ti PTH08080WAH or PTH08000 regulator for the 3.0v.

Or use a switching regulator for the 5v for less heat.

I mine-as-well use another of the switching regulators since I have them... what resistor combination would I use to get 5 volts out of it?

Oh and good news! The Engraving Shop has my order ready! :D

Now that's what I call service!

Will have pics later tonight.

Willl have pics on Friday or Saturday... (can't get out of work early :wtf: )
