Simply stunning work, you have reached a new level of quality with your portables and the
best thing is we get to see every step of the way because of your great documentation.

I look forward to watching you build future projects.

It certaintly is beautiful. :) But I don't know why people are ragging on your other portables, they looked great if you ask me (Well, except maybe for the BigBoy.). BTW I left you a comment in your news thread.

Swapped the Select and Start buttons around.

The paint on the joystick cap came off a bit, so had to change them - whilst doing it, I thought it made more sense to re-do the joystick and shoulder buttons, so the buttons were secured in firmly and I had a piece of perspex on top of the joystick to ensure it was mounted correctly. Also, this is a far better way to construct the section. Decided not to use the plastic joystick cap base but put a piece of black cloth in its place - again, easier construction!

Cut down the joystick cap base, and desoldered a different joystick - decided to use higher joystick posts too.

..to get..

Cut out a piece of black cloth and mounted between joystick and joystick cap - this stops seeing the joystick internals from outside the case.

Not a good idea to do this when the tact switch is connected to the system, however no reason you can't do this when it isn't - just made a small circuit with 3v and an LED, when button is pressed, light comes on - this is to proof-test the button was fine before securing the system wiring to the tact switch - saves screwing the system down to find out that the button doesn't work!

The tact switch is secured in place against a strip of perspex, hot glued in place to the case.

Found a case that takes my system really well - it was the case that came with the crappy Chinese non-official PSone screen I got a couple of months ago.

It looks like it has eyes that are peeking out of the carrying case.

Did you not have a multimeter handy to check your switch with? I have a small digital one that beeps for continuity - I use that all the time.

Yes, and I use it a lot, however for some reason, it didn't beep with these tact switches when contact was made and the value displayed on the screen wasn't consistent - so I made a small circuit instead with the LED to prove if it worked or not. Playing the Bugs Bunny game afterwards, must have pressed the R1 button about 30 times, worked first time, every time.
