Recheck your solder connections, some cold solder joints can be dislodged by heat expansion. Also, see if anything is getting hotter than it should right before it shuts off.

Well it was the 7808 getting to hot.

Weird because even when the screen shut off the 7808 was still ouputting the proper voltage. :?

Put a fan on it and the screen stayed on, so I added an aluminum heatsink from a Retro Duo and I spent today putting in the fan on the back where it will suck the hot air out.

I should be done with it tomorrow and posts finished pics :)

In my GCp I wired two 7808s in parallel and I think it helped to solve the same problem
I did also add a larger heatsink though so maybe having two did nothing :P

Well I just have to wire the batteries and Pcb and I'm done.

Here's a look at the insides before I add the batteries.

The PicoPsu is underneath the Dreamcast Motherboard:

I will post finished pics tomorrow afternoon, I'm tired and going to sleep.

How do I make a youtube video of it. I have a 1.3Meg camera in my laptop but when I try to make a 320x240 video it ends up being around 1gig

Is there a easier way to make a small video ?

Put it into Windows Movie Maker, then save it. WMM saves it as a WMV file, which has a very small file size.

Finished :)

Here's the finished pics

Image

I added a fan in the back as you can see and put slots in it like the original Dreamcast has.

I put the orange Led shining down on the Dreamcast Logo. You like ? :)

Well that was sure fun.

I have to finish the cover for the back but I'm glad the rest is done so I think I will put it off for a few days.

wow. just... that looks AMAZING.

I'd like a better look at that joystick. from the picture, it looks like a ball with a groove in it. is that really what it is?
