YES! :) they are all SNES games.

I got actraiser to work contrary to torokun. It is an awesome game and I hope he's able to get it working. I may have a different version than him. Mine came in the old school early SNES cartridge (the kind you couldn't be pull out of the SNES without ejecting)

I know you have probably tried this but have you cleaning it with windex. I just saw an awesome video about fixing NES/SNES/N64 games by using alcohol/erasers and alcohol/windex.there are a number of solutions.

He suggests thoroughly, taking apart the cartridge and ersaing away the scum and dirt. followed by alcoholing it afterwards.

Yeah... Because I had to replace the battery, I took the cart apart and while I was at it, I cleaned the connector bit.

Besides, it works fine on my original SNES. Just not on RD...

Hey torokun

I'm feelin your pain now. Kirby's dreamland 3(SNES) no longer works or works intermitently. :( what the hell. My original SNES works though.


so to update the compatability

NES
Super mario 3 - good(poor sound)
Kirby Adventure - good (poor sound)
Strider - perfect
Xevius - perfect
Kabuki Quantum fighter - perfect

SNES
Kirby Dreamland 3 - intermitently

PS Golden Fanko
As an aside, I think whats exciting about the retro duo and why i bought it is that it works better than any other fauxtendos. if you want a fauxtendo this is the best for sure.

Apart from kirby i think that the snes emulation is awesome.

You guys mod stuff to make it cooler and better! How would you say mod a SNES controller plug and a NES Zapper. it's seven pins on either plug does that mean hypothetically you could splice a SNES plug and maybe a NES cord extender to make a zapper plug?

Any reason for that? If i remember correctly, didn't they release a Super Scope or something for the SNES? :? Either way, it would be pretty cool to do. I'm pretty sure that at least on regular controllers, they have the same color wires, and you just connect them together. :roll: I'm probably completely wrong. :lol:

i persoanlly prefer the NES zapper over the SNES super scope because the scope was big and bulky(looked like a bazooka) while the zapper can be done 1 handed and much easier to control. i dont really want to cut up my nes zapper to see if it does work but if anyone does try and get it to work im sure we would like to know how you did it :D

I'm thinking that if I wanted to play Duckhunt I'd need a Zapper. The retroduo only uses SNES ports and I don't think the SuperScope is backwards compatible with the NES game cartridge.

SuperScope
-watches the scanlines
-has a turbo button

NES Zapper
-watches for a bright box at a keyframe

(but if both machines use the same pin to transmit the single bit that indicates a hit or miss, maybe they are similar enough)


If the superscope does not work with duckhunt, I'd like to connect a zapper to the retro duos Player1 port.

You'd have to map out the difference between a NES controller plug and the SNES controller plugs. Maybe someone already knows. Maybe the Retro duo uses different pins for the NES. They both have 7 pins so it won't be complex.

*example of 7 pins of a NES plug and a SNES plug
NES ||| SNES
000 ||| 0000 000
0000 |||

But I haven't any of the tools to test the pins...

hmmm.... Figuring out what the configuration of pins, It seems obvious but it could be setup backwards invertedly or nonsensically. Once it is figured out, I could just use a NES extension cord and a SNES Gamepad cord to splice them together to make an extension for a zapper.

But I haven't any of the tools to test the pins...

I hope this makes sense... it's late and I'm about to go to bed.

Long story short. I'm tard cause i didn't read Ghosstt's message fully. Are those pins COLORED? :oops: that would make it easier.

Someone could test the Super Scope with the Duckhunt before I start figuring out pins and soddering. :? It'd be Wicked and definitely youtube worth LOL

I bought a retroduo about two months ago, and I've hacked it a bit, it is not directly related to portable modding, but some people can be interested. All the informations are on my website.
To fill the compatibility list : all PAL-protected games don't work (like Donkey kong country, Super Mario all stars, etc..). SA-1 games don't work either (like Dragon Ball Z Hyper dimension).

I'd like to make the NES part output a PAL signal, by soldering another crystal, but I can't find the good value. Anyone can help?
Edit : has anyone found +12V on the motherboard?

Just got the system yesterday and here are a few to add to the list.

Actraiser works perfectly for me.
Super Mario Kart (NTSC) works perfectly.
Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES) works perfectly.

Unfortunately, my copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 does not work well. The game plays and sounds alright, but there are a couple of odd white lines to the left of the screen and there is a small flickering line when the game is scrolling, like the kind you would see in an emulator. On the game label, it says USA-1. Is this some kind of reissue or revision? I'm hoping this is the problem, so I can just pick up another copy. Hope someone can help.

P.S. If you think I should film it and put it on YouTube to show you what i mean, feel free to tell me.
