you're not the first person i've heard say that... but my games, both nes and snes, are rather easy to get out. not too easy, but just easy enough.

I just realized that I never got around to measuring how much power the Retro Duo draws before I hacked it up. I'll measure the draw for just the SNES portion (with the power indicator LEDs removed) and post the results this weekend if someone else wants to measure and see if it's any different if the NES portion is still attached.

Actually, we could test a few different possibilities:
1) NES on
2) SNES on
3) SNES on with no NES attached

If we get some specific numbers then it will be easier to calculate how long batteries will last.

Isn't there a sticker or something that would tell you your draw? I got mine from the power adapter of my NES emulator. Even if it's a bit off, all I wanted was an estimate.

the output from a power adapter is not a very good way to judge how much a system actually draws, they tend to be over rated a great deal, for example the psone power adapter is rated at 3 amps! the psone i think draws less than one amp

Aaaah. I see. Well, this is good news for me! My battery life may be a bit higher than I estimated.

More hacking info! Assuming you're using just the SNES portion for a portable, here's how you bypass the power switch after it's been desoldered:

Image

I think you can get away with only jumping either the left or the right but since the main power goes through here why limit the current?

You can now put a switch of your choice between your power supply and the power input of the board.

aweosme that was something i needed to know! currently (as of right now) i am 50% done relocating the cartslot, used an original snes cartslot that i had used for a relocation in the past so the wires are kkinda ugly but it cut my soldering in half and its a better made slot!

hey. im starting to have a problem with a button on one of my controllers that came with the duo. has anyone else experienced this? its the Y button. it consistently happens now. if i pause and switch controllers the other one works fine. does the duo just come with cheaply made controllers? also if i need to replace it i can use an snes controller, right?

I tried changing the battery for Actraiser. But it still doesn't work on Retro Duo. (works fine on the original SNES).

This is one game I really wanted it to work on Retro Duo. :(

Anyone tried it yet?
