So.. I'm going to try to make a Psone portable, and I got a few questions that i hope you can help me with:

1. How much heat can a 4mm thick piece of Plexiglas take?
2. How do I "split" a Ps1 controller with dual shock (someone can paste a soldering schematic?)
3. What kind of batteries / power supply will I use?

Will post a few pics with my idea about the case.

BTW, don't blame my english, I'm swedish.. i'm not supposed to speak good english :D

Being thankful for some kind of help:oops:

What kind of heat? Electronics heat, or blow-torch heat? If its electronics heat, I'd imagine quite a bit.

I don't know how to split a controller. I'm curious about that, myself.

As for the batteries and power supply... Thats up to you, really. Go for something high amperage.

I hope I was some help.

I wonder if I'm the only one who finds it ironic that N64islove is building a PSXp...

Have you read bens book? No? All the information is there. It is your best resource.

These forums are meant to share ideas and ask specific questions that might have been missed or not clear in the book. Don't expect to get a step by step instruction manual just from reading the forum.

Cool. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Splitting controllers is easy. Cut the controller and just reconnect the traces that you cut.

Ok, but the problem with my dual-shock controller is that its like plastic with all wires and stuffs.. u know a regular "chip" or what u call it is made out of something that's thicker.. so maybe i just split my regular controller, or i just let it be a whole one ;)
and btw, thanks for the help about splitting a controller

Okey.. seems like i'm the only one posting but, is plexi 4mm thick a good choice for the case? or is it to weak against electronical heat? + what colour will i use painting the inside? ( i want a ipodish look) i dont want the color too start to melt / burn etc. , or is it best to paint the outside?

Sorry for being so full of questions but, hey, it's my first job + i'm to poor to buy Bens book

If your electronics get hot enough to melt the plastic, your system should already be fried :P
Melting paint? Where are you afraid of? You're not making a portable oven!
It shouldn't get that hot (even without a fan and/or heatsinks).

I'm looking forward to seeing your result! Good luck
