heres an early mock-up of my case. obviously still needs a lot more filling and sanding. but it gives you an idea for the size of this thing compared to my hands

I like, not sure about the button placement... it seems a bit off compared to normal megadrive button placement.

WELL WELL WELL!!! look who is back from the dead!

im not dead and neither is my project. it was just put on hold for a while after i never recieved my replacement screen. (TIP: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GOODLUCKSELL ON EBAY!) ebay couldnt help me out and i ended up out of $50.

so after a long hiatus, im reviving this project. its going to be slow going for a while though.

so right now i need a screen and some batteries. the rest is just up to cosmetic work and soldering 8)

Wow man, this thing is looking sexier by the minute! :D You should submit it in the contest in F42, it'd definitely be in the running!

Though Brian's already got my vote... :P

sorry wont do. wont be done it time for the contest. if i had the room for a PS1 screen, id probably be able to knock this think out by the end of the week. but since i need to find a smaller screen to fit in there... not to mention im trying not to skimp on anything here. im trying to go for a high level of fit and finish. i ultimately i want something i can use often without it breaking, and if it does break, repair it easily. so the hot glue will be to a minimum except to secure wire connections. most everything will be mounted with epoxied-in screw posts, the ones used to hold in computer motherboards in the case...

anyway... need to pick up some finer sandpaper and finish up the front of the case.. but i need a screen to determine what size the hole will be. so thats on hold for a while. so in the meantime, im going to finish wiring the cart slot and get it mounted to the rear case, start working on the controls, and do the stereo mod to the radica. i may even do the svid mod, if i can find a screen that will use it.

quick progress pic! its getting a lot closer to its final shape. still need to do a little more shaping around the buttons, the raised portion the buttons are on isnt noticeable enough yet. there are also a few spots here and there that could use some filler still. i think the final paint scheme will be satin black for the top section and "genesis" lettering and glossy red for the bottom strip with a silver pinstripe between them. the back may remain texture black for some grip, or i may do the same satin black as the front. unsure as of yet.

Thats kickass dude! The design reminds me of the case brian made for his SNES.

im thinking about re-reviving this old project. it was put on hiatus due to massive front-panel disintegration. i used the wrong filler type, it started cracking and flaking up. also, budget became really tight. as in, i had ZERO money. im gonna scrounge ebay for a new game.com to donate its case. this has to be a project with a triton-esque timescale :D
